Cy-Fair vs. Stratford- Week Zero next year will feature 2 great Running backs. McGuffie and some other guy who's name escapes me

Not hating on the kid
but Texas can do better
McGuffie is a VERY talented athlete
but he is not UT material
maybe more of a Mid-Major type player
UH or Rice

Glad you are not a talent scout. McGuffie has offers from EVERY Big 12 school & many other majors like Michigan right now. Most want him as an athlete (4.3 40) & a few as a RB. I think he is a CB in college b/c he is only 5'10" 175 lbs.

Kid runs track (hurdles, long jump) & does well too. He just set the Houston hs record for rushing this year as a junior: 3121 yds. on year in 5A football in Houston. That is nothing to sneeze at buddy, think of all the players thru the years. To say he is anything less is just plain wrong & inaccurate.

Stratford qb Andrew Luck (Oliver Luck's son, former Oiler & West Va qb). Highly recruited kid & very smart too just like his Rhodes Scholar dad.

At the game I saw last week he did not impress me.
Yes, the kid is very quick, but he was caught behind the line more than he should have been. Stats are not everything. Look at Timmy Chang.

You're comparing a hs RB to a former college qb in Hawaii? Unbelievable!

Pearland keyed on him yet he had over 100 yds. & 2 tds. Pearland is darn good too on defense. Cy Fair could do little else & got beat, but that does not diminish this kid's #s.

As I said, glad you are not a talent scout b/c this kid will play major college football. BODY OF WORK, plus one heck of an athlete. Recruiting is all about upside & projecting a few years down the road. You will see...& my source on McGuffie is rock solid in Cypress.

carter you are off base on this one...McGuffie is the real deal..he wouldn't have offers from every Big 12 school otherwise...the kid is the truth

Barry Sanders was caught behind the line more than anyone in NFL history (though the Texans' line is trying their best to give David Carr that honor). Is he any less of a RB because of it?

Did not say it did, but it does speak to his athleticism. Kid is an athlete plain & simple. You don't gain over 3000 yds. in Texas hs 5A football by being average or lucky. D1 kid all the way.

Rumor floating around Cypress (and Houston) is that he really likes Texas.

Just a rumor though. Take it with a grain of salt--like all rumors.

Those were some freakish plays. That kid he hurled had to have been around 5'10 or so. Insane.

I'm liking that Rivals said that Tech is even in the running for him. That would be GREAT to see him out in the LBK. :)
