It was on ESPNU earlier and they had many honorable mentions: Jim Brown, Tony Dorsett, Eric Dickerson, Steve Owens, Ernie Davis, Ricky Williams, Hopalong Cassady, Tom Harmon, Alan Amechie, Gale Sayers, & Marshall Faulk.

Their top 10 were:

10. Reggie Bush
09. The Four Horsemen of 1924 Notre Dame.
08. Earl Campbell
07. Blanchard and Davis of 1940s Army
06. Archie Griffin
05. Bo Jackson
04. Red Grange
03. Barry Sanders
02. O.J. Simpson
01. Herchael Walker

O.J. Simpson was great even though he only played two years at USC after transfering from a junior college. Like Reggie he is a distinguished alumni of USC which also includes many outstanding celebrities such as Anabel Chong.

Not on the honorable mentioned list but I feel should have been included was Doak Walker of SMU.

And Jim Brown not in the top ten. Anywone who has seen him play had to probably do a double take on this. In fact I was sure he was going to be their no. 1. They missed up not having him in the top 5 at least.

Well let the debate begin. :)

Hmmm...the award for Top Running Back is named after Doak Walker...seems like he should be on the list with relative contemporaries Blanchard, Davis, Grange, and the Four Horsemen included.

You are correct! Ron Dayne and Ricky Williams should be in top 10. Aren't they still #1 and #2 in all time major college rushing yards?

No Tony Dorsett? That's crazy! Heisman Trophy and the all time yardage leader for years and years until Williams and Dayne. Laughable list...
