IRVING – Facing a two-touchdown deficit, Celina didn't flinch Friday night at Texas Stadium.

Calmly and coolly, Celina hit big play after big play on offense.

Its defense rallied from a brief hiccup to put on a suffocating display as Celina won its 30th straight game by rolling to a 35-14 victory against Brownsboro for the Class 3A Division II Region II championship.

Celina (14-0) plays the winner of today's Region I final in Sweetwater between Vernon (8-5) and Midland Greenwood (12-1) next week in a state semifinal.

Senior Taylor Kolb came up with several clutch catches as Celina came back from a 14-0 hole to score five straight touchdowns. Kolb had six receptions for 128 yards. Kolb had 12 receptions for 239 yards entering the season.

The biggest catch – a 13-yarder from Dru Prosser – came on fourth-and-12 and enabled Celina to sustain a drive that made the score 14-13 heading into halftime.

Celina converted three third downs of 11 yards or more in the game.

Prosser, normally a free safety, started at quarterback in place of Seth Davis, who was injured last week. Prosser was sacked three times early as Brownsboro built some momentum. Prosser shook off those early woes and finished 8-of-12 passing for 188 yards. He accounted for three touchdowns (two rushing and one passing).

Celina's defense, led by pesky 5-4 defensive end Breck Holman, corralled Brownsboro's big-play running back Ricco Richards, who had 24 yards on 17 carries. Richards lost yards on eight carries.

Celina allowed 11 of Brownsboro's 115 yards in the second half. Brownsboro lost yardage on 13 of its 32 rushes. Kolb and Prosser also each had interceptions. Holman had three sacks, including one in which he stripped the ball out of quarterback Jordan Magee's hands.

Magee sparked Brownsboro's early effort by hitting two big pass plays – a 57-yarder to Logan Bryan and a 31-yarder to David Rudd – that led to scores. Brownsboro caught Celina by surprise by recovering a pooch kick on the kickoff following the first score. Ryan Epperson's 1-yard score on fourth down gave Brownsboro a 14-0 lead with 11:13 remaining in the second quarter.

Celina's Austin Wyatt recovered a fumble on Brownsboro's 2-yard line, leading to a 1-yard score by Prosser. Prosser then capped a 12-play, 80-yard drive on Celina's next possession to pull within one. Celina took control by scoring on three of its first four drives in the second half.
