Aransas Pass' Tommy Blake and Beeville's Brian Bonner earned first-team, all-Mountain West Conference football team Tuesday.

They were two of 13 TCU players to earn a spot on one of the teams. Joining them on the first team were defensive end Chase Ortiz, linebacker Jason Phillips, offensive tackle Herb Taylor and safety Marvin White.

Blake, a defensive end, made the first-team for the second straight year. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound junior led the conference in tackles for a loss with 13.5. Blake had 51 tackles, 5 sacks, 2 forced two fumbles and two fumble recoveries, including one he returned 12 yards for a touchdown. He is also rated as the No. 2 defensive end prospect in the 2008 NFL draft by the web site, nfldraftblitz.com.

Bonner was honored twice in the MWC awards with first-team deisgnation as a return specialist and second-team honors for his work as a safety. A record-setting quarterback at Beeville, Bonner led the MWC in punt return average (12.0). On defense, the junior had 48 tackles, including 8.5 for a loss, with 4.5 sacks and 2 interceptions."
