Caught the last quarter and a half on the radio going back to Greenwood from Abilene. I was sure Snyder was going to pull this one out. A big holding penalty at the end put them in a spot to have to pass and then the inteception.

Will Clay had a great game and did everything he could do to win this game.

Whiteside had something like 188 yards on 22 carries and I think all 3 touchdowns.

This holding penalty was difference in ball game. Snyder would have had 1st and goal from 10 instead it was 3rd and 12 from maybe 22 and QB threw int.

Congrats to the Lions on a big win!
Our Snyder Tigers played their hearts out! Congrats on a great season.

I was able to catch the last half of this game, and man it was cooooldd.
Vernon's turnover on the punt reception was a huge momentum swing that allowed Snyder back into the ball game after they were pinned inside their own 20.. without that turnover, the Lions would have won by 14 points. Also Vernon threw an interception on the Snyder 4-yard line. (Vernon's QB takes too long to make his mind up and chunk the pill... his receiver was wide open for several seconds before that bad throw.) So both teams had their momentum swings; the entire game did not turn on one holding penalty.

Good luck next week Lions. BTW, Snyder's crowd was much louder and into the game than Vernon... you Lions need to make a little more noise for your team. You're almost as dead-butt as Muleshoe's crowd, and that's no compliment.

When it was all said and done the holding penalty was the deciding factor in this game.

Wow,

I believe the holding call was HUGE but just as big was the muffed punt. Vernon is usually a VERY good on special teams so that was WAY out fo character.

CONGRAT's VERNON VERY VERY PROUD OF YOU !!!!!!

Does anyone know if Briggs played in this game? I know he was out against Sweetwater. He is a big part of our punt return team so I thought he wasnt there considering the prblem we had. Let me know someone. Again, Vernon, GREAT JOB.

Maybe if you had seen the whole game you would have seen the fumble recovery by Snyder that gave Snyder the ball inside Vernon's 20 in the 1st Quarter that 1 ref decided was an illegal forward pass instead.

Don't make your judgement about the momentum of this game on 1/4 or 1/2.

I send congrats to Vernon for a Hard Fought Victory. They fought for it and got it. They get to play next week, but I am very proud of our Tigers and the way that they played this season. In retrospect, having lost our full-back with a broken foot we probably couldn't have represented the region very well any further anyway so it may be for the best. Good luck to the remaining team and my you avoid the injury bug that bit the Tigers tonight.

First of all congrats to Vernon, they overcame adversity early and did what they had to do to win. This was a hard fought game by both teams. The officials were fine and I dont think had anything to do with the outcome. I am proud of the tigers after starting
0-3 to come back and finish strong. The lions have a classy program and they are well coached and play hard. Great game I think the fans got there moneys worth tonight.

These two teams fought a battle last night to the bitter end! Dang it was cold.

I'm looking foward to next year already. If things happen like I think they will. This team should go far with a passing and a running game. The ole play action fake might become very dangerous next year!! I believe next year people will be saying are they going to run or pass, are they going to pass or run. Sorry I just had to say that. I guess you could say I'm being a homer and know what should take place next year. Notice I said should.

Glad to hear the injury isn't as serious as first reported. Vernon is a class program. It was very respectful the way their players on and off the field were kneeling when our players were injured.

Vernon is blessed with a real good coach and real quality person in Aston Whiteside. From all accounts he is a good kid with good grades and a very nice guy. Next Year is going to be a good one for Vernon. For the past two years they have been playing the second best Quaterback on the team and next year when Darien gets to play we are going to take a step up on that position. Please know that Miller is a fine QB but he isnt the best we have. We also have several good kids behind Aston that are going to be studs as well. The road from here on out looks VERY VERY tough for Vernon. Greenwood destroyed a great GRaham team so this is going to be hell next week and then the prize would be Celina, no thanks! Lets go Brownwood !

Sweetwater knows Football. And I don't believe the coach is going anywhere. I don't know the guy, but my friends in S-town say that the community loves him. He just seems like a fixture to me. But I could be wrong.

I grew up in Sweetwater and thus I follow them as well and try to make a game or two each year. Sweetwater will be replacing a lot of skill postions next year so they will probably start slow and then improve as the year progresses. I don't see them coming out of the starting gate fast next year.

I think they'll be in the playoffs again but I think Clyde will bump up to the # 2 spot in that district. Wylie will win another outright district title.

i grew up on that lake:(

the last time i actually got to swim in it was the summer after my 8th grade year...and even then it was already really low

well wait...there WAS that time me and a few teammates went swimming w/ some girls from Wylie that one night during our 2-a-days...haha we were dang near the middle of the lake just to have the water come up to our necks while standing

i know that has nothing to do w/ the thread haha...but i believe that sweetwater's talent pool is drying up...but the talent drought isnt affect JUST sweetwater.....alot of west texas as well....there are teams that when i was in highschool were dominant that i's seen sweetwater play the past few seasons who SUCK and they are still successful...i wish west texas football would get back to being strong all around

Sweetwater will be replacing a lot of skill postions next year so they will probably start slow and then improve as the year progresses. I don't see them coming out of the starting gate fast next year.

Your views???? I have to agree.. sweetwater will start slow......but as we all know its the end of the season that counts...and I'm sure sweetwater will have new young talent in the backfield...just didnt see much time playing behind two good running backs this year....but oh well ....i guess we'll have to wait till next season

Good job Tigers. it was a good season. This game could have gone either way. cant see where there was a hold on the play in question but you get those sometimes. You just dont want those kind of calls on a key play like that.
Snyder Is very young and will bounce back. I think Snyder has like 8 coming back on O next year and 6 comming back on D. JV went 10-0 so things should be ok for the next few years. Congrats on a good season.

I agree. Vernon also has a pretty decent QB with size and speed on their JV team now. They also have a whole pool of running backs to choose from. Next year that team should be better than this years.
