Yes, for us, so far. :)

Things went about like I thought they would for Madison. They just didn't have the defensive line and safeties that they've had in the past so I was glad to see them make the 2nd round.

It was really a win-win situatioin though for the Trojans last week. Either the football team made it to the 3rd round for the 3rd straight year or the basketball team got two key players added to a very, very deep team. I was hoping Velt would've gone farther in the playoffs, but they only got a week head start on Madison in basketball so that's not too bad.

Back during the fastest team post, I stated that Buse is one of the fastest players I have seen on the FB field. I said if he gets a step on the D-backs, its over. I was shunned by a Cuero fan for the blasphemy, However, tonight Buse made 4 tds and was bustin heads. I had a feeling that if the BB's (Buse and Beaty) have a good night it would be over for the Gobblers. I wanted Cuero to win cause Wimberly seems to have our number and if we make the semis, we will most likely be looking at them again.

Let's check out the week 10 AP top ten...

1. Gilmer (6) 10-0 184 2
2. Cuero (12) 10-0 183 1
3. Giddings (2) 10-0 160 3
4. West Orange-Stark 10-0 144 4
5. Celina 10-0 119 5
6. Decatur 10-0 92 6
7. Madison 9-0 73 7
8. Wimberley 9-1 60 8
9. Liberty Hill 7-2 31 9
10. Hondo 10-0 25 10

#1 and #6 lost in the first round. #2, #4, and #7 have all fallen since then. Only two teams in the top five remain, five in the top ten (granted, two beat another top ten).

OK, so let's check out the expanded standings...

Also receiving votes: 11, Sweetwater 5. 12, Snyder 4. 12, Port Isabel 4. 12, Palestine 4. 15, Abilene Wylie 3. 15, Hutto 3. 17, Bellville 2. 17, Diboll 2. 19, Royse City 1. 19, Monahans 1.

Sweetwater, PI, Palestine, AW, Hutto, Bellville, Diboll, and Monahans have since lost.

Division 1 has exactly one of these teams left (started with Gilmer, Decatur, Palestine, Abilene Wylie, Hutto, Bellville, Diboll, and Royse City). Division 2 has six of 12 remaining (not all too shabby, pending tomorrow's outcomes).

Even though I got tired of hearing it, I really did think Sweetwater would be the Region 1 representative in DII and I thought the Abilene Wylie/Decatur winner would be the Region 1 rep in DI.

Thank you for mentioning that, LHPfactory. Yes, I am biased when it comes to Mikey Buse, but I saw him take control of that game and show what he is made of. He was sick Monday and Tuesday, didnt practice full-steam until Thursday...he also re-injured his old ankle injury in the 2nd quarter...but he came through. Yes, Beaty probably deserves player of the game...but Buse..wow..he WORE DOWN Cuero, single handedly. The stats might not show it (other than 4 TD's), but if you were there, you saw it for yourself. He beat Cuero at their own game. THAT is a huge statement. I am so damned proud of him, I am about to bust open.

My thoughts exactly. I guess thing don't turn out as we would/should have wished. Oh well, there's always next year.
