Okay, well maybe I got a little bit ahead of myself as I haven't seen either team play this year. I knew Wimberly would be good and the same with Cuero. I just thought that it would be a much closer game than it is turning out to be. I still support the Gobblers as I was very impressed with them in '04 after the loss to Wylie. Those boys down there don't know anything except success and I wish it would have been better. It's okay though, there's still next year. Go Steers.

Well sometimes you have plays where backs just fumble or bad snaps over qb and kickers heads but when fumbles are caused by good hits and defense is getting int's they should get more credit and call those takeaways

I stated in a previous post, Buse is the X factor for the Wimberly, (Mr Intangible). He must be stopped, If he has a great game, so do all the Texans. Beaty is hell on wheels also. The BB's (Buse and Beaty) are causing trouble for opponents on both sides of the ball they must be stopped! Great job Texans, hope to see you in the semis. Great season Gobblers.

Well, both teams I was rooting for lost tonight. The Gobblers fell to the Wimberly Texans, and the Refugio Bobcats just lost to Sommersville 21-20. The Bobcats 28yd FG attempt with about 1:40 hit the upright and that was all she wrote.

im glad my wimberley boys know how to take a football season seriously. cuero got what they deserved. i remember reading on here at the beginning of the season how awesome cuero would be and that this was the best team since the 90's. ha. what a joke.

I was at the game tonight and from what i saw, Hondo is a better match-up against Wimberley with the way they play. I realize neither team is a good one to face, no matter what.

1. Not one person from Cuero could stop Buse. He, literally, abused everyone he touched. Simple game plan really--get Buse the ball.

2. The Cuero secondary was exposed. I don't know how they did during the season, but it was evident from this game that they aren't very good. Wimberley exposed that big time.

3. Cuero came out in the 2nd half just plain flat. Even though Cuero scored before halftime, Wimberley had the momentum the ENTIRE game.

4. I sat on the Cuero side the whole game. They fans were really nice. They (fans, town, etc.) remind me a lot of Gainesville--my hometown.

5. Cuero offense seemed kind of conservative at times.

6. Both teams were great and there was a reason they both are this deep. Good luck to the Texans next week.

That's a fair assessment, but some of those big plays the Texans made came on determination and the ability to capitalize on what might have been a busted play or two.

well, just got through reading this post and it was kinda what I expected...always one smarta$$ in the bunch...:thinking: I wanna say Wimberley is just that damn good...Buse and Beaty are one heck of a threat...you got to contain both of them, because they can hurt you...no excuses, we did not play up to our capabilities...you can't spot a team like Wimberley 14 points and expect to win...I thought maybe the 14 points in the 2nd half would be all they would get too...:( WRONG...they never quit...Cuero had a great season and I expect good things next year again...good luck next week against probably Hondo...oh, and it was great to see Rita(P4S) and Catman again, also great to finally meet wimbro_pro and TexasAlum06 tonight...

Yes Gobbler Grad, nice to meet you too. Tell your boys to hang in there and bring it back next year...they have nothing but our respect. Cuero is as good as it gets when it comes to quality opponents.

Congrats to Wimberly on a fine win. You were definately the better team tonight. The gobblers lacked the ability to hit and wrap up, leaving the running game wide open for wimberly. One thing that i could not stand was a few td's behind, and a big chunk of the stands emptied heading back to Cuero. What kind of message is that? You are a 100 percent behind the gobblers, but a little under the weather and it's give up and go home. I'm not saying Cuero had a great chance at coming back because wimberly did everything great. I just think it is a lousy, although i know under some circumstances some had to get back. To the players you had a great season and nothing to be ashamed about. You may not think so right now, but losing to them, a team of equal quality and ranking, is alot better than being upset by someone else. For those who are stating the "cuero chokes again," look at your school's history and if it can match Cueros then fine you have the credentials..if not.. don't bring it up.. .. We're all proud of our program and what they achieve. Good luck to Wimberly in further play.

We all took note of the stands emptying with 7 minutes to go. It's then I knew we would win.
