The Data Poll uses some power formula to rank teams which does not introduce every variable into the equation. It tries to be very objective hence it ignores past year performances and "tradition". What it fails in is realitive strength of districts and regions. That combined with the fact that it doesnot measure those things like consistancy, winning attitude, toughness mentally and physically and most of all good coaching which are summed up in the word "tradition" the poll is flawed. That's why you have Merkle and Fairfield ranked 26 and 25 and Everman and La Grange ranked 34 and 40. Heck La Grange wins every week, yet falls in the polls. At this rate they will be out of the top 50 by end of regular season if they win the next three games against Giddings, Smithville and Hutto!
The best poll is the one done right after the last week end before Christmas. When the playoffs begin alot of the teams in the Data poll will fall real fast and the cream will rise to the top.

Look for Midland Greenwood to be #1 when Data Poll updates Monday. Sinton did not cover his predicted spread against AP, and hence, should fall a bit. Port Isabel should also take a leap up because they more than doubled the spread. Everman will rise to the top 5 by the second round, unless something drastic happens.

Look for Liberty Hill to go up to then i guess because our spred against Ingram was suppose to be 14.5 it was 35. LH by 14 over Bandera.

I'll have to ammend my previous post after a second look. Greenwood didn't cover their spread either, and although Burnet did cover the spread, they didn't win by enough to raise themselves. Top three should remain unchanged.

OK......now I get it........DUH!!!

If that's the case, we will never beat the predicted spread.

Kermit +45.5 (Score 35-0)
F. Stockton +40.5
Presidio +57 (Forfeit - score 2-0)
Pecos +52

I just don't see Purser letting the boys run the score up like that.
