Here were his region 1 picks last week:
REGION I AREA PICKS:
Monahans (9-1) vs. Snyder (8-2): The Monahans defense has allowed only 19 points in its last six games, and the Lobos enjoyed a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Monahans will beat Snyder for the second time this season and advance to the Regional Semifinals.
Vernon (6-5) vs. Sweetwater (9-2): Quarterback Duone Cunning led a heavy rushing attack for Sweetwater in its Bi-district win over Argyle. Vernon will not be able to hold off Sweetwater, which set a school record in rushing yards last week.
Clint (9-1) vs. Midland Greenwood (10-1): Clint is the benefactor of a bye week following a big win over Fort Stockton. Clint will stop Greenwood’s rushing game to score an upset with a defense that excels at creating turnovers.
Graham (6-5) vs. Sanger (9-2): Quarterback Nathan Pegues dominated Clyde in Sanger’s Bi-district victory with four touchdowns. Pegues and Sanger roll past Graham with a running attack that few teams have been able to stop.
