I know I'm late and I know I haven't been posting much lately, but I just want to say this.

Holy crap, they got lucky. And I was rooting for Trinity the whole game.

Lineweaver has got to be still kicking himself in the butt over that one

If I were up there I'd be kickin' him in the butt too... lettin' them damned make-believe creatures tie our 44-game winning streak

Wasn't Lineweaver the coach at Commerce that went for 2 and an outright state championship instead of kicking and possibly sharing a championship with Sealy?

yep...in that same game he had a 4th and 3 or 4 from his own 20 and went for it and got it also. He makes some wild calls. Word is that year he asked the seniors in a timeout if they wanted to go for it to win it or just tie and the seniors said they wanted to win it all! People forgot he was a part of a state championship or two at Southlake, Commerce and then won one last year at Trinity

share the title? they wouldn't give the win to the team with the most penetrations?

if I knew a tie would mean sharing the title I'd go for it... I'll either win it or lose it, but by-gawd ize-ainta sharin' it...

it's not just the 4th quarter play that throws me off...the fact that in the 2nd quarter he went for it on 4th and goal at the 6 and passed up another field goal opportunity on 4th and 3 or 4 at around the 15 was beyond me. He did finally try about a 43 yd fg which his kicker missed by a foot or two to the left. You can't leave 6 points out there vs Carroll and expect to win too often...

NO - penetrations were only used to advance teams - a tie in the title game = co-champs

As 3afan said, penetrations wouldn't have made a difference, but Commerce had the most penetrations that game.
