Who's got the top 3A Defense in the State?
Somebody come up with an intelligent top ten, or 15, or 20.

I'd throw Giddings and Celina up there...

Who-dun-it!!?
11-27-2006, 01:47 PM
I'd say Hondo as a top 3

Who-dun-it!!?

My personal opinion without any supporting info:

1. Hondo
2.Cuero
3.Celina
4. Giddings
5. Liberty Hill
6. Snyder

And I only say Snyder cause of there sputtering offense. There Defense has taken control of every winning game, and still did an outstanding job in there few losing efforts.

Gilmer's defense hasn't had anyone score a point on them the last two games, so that should put them close to the top, but Rockdale has done it for four straight weeks, so I think they might be a little bit better.

Giddings, because of the play of the linebackers.

Greenwood is giving up, on average 15 points
Graham is giving up, on average 19 points

Probably not in the top 5, but still pretty good!! :)

I know we lost, but WOS had a salty defense. I know Giddings fans will back it up.

West columbia's defense has done really well this season but the totals dont show it b/c our special teams is not that good.

The other team starts near the 40 yd line every drive.

With the exception of last week they have done pretty well this year.(last week against silsbee 2 TDs were Kickoff return and one kickoff was returned to the 5 yd. line so their defense was put in a tough position. Silsbee totaled 41 points.

Other than say 3 games they have played very well.

3- games

Gave up
42
42
33
( all losses by the way.)

WOS defense was awesome...but i would still put our defense slightly ahead. Points given up doesnt tell who's the best defense...some teams play creampuffs... my rankings

1. Giddings
2. Celina
3. WOS(while they were still playing)
4. LE
5. A. Wylie
6. Wimberley
7. Waco Robinson
8 Liberty Hill
9. Cuero

The WOS LB'S were the hardest hitting and quickest i saw this year in 3A.But as far as over all defense but in my opinion maybe not the fastest,or as physical i would have to say Giddings defense anytime you can stop the other team in a playoff game at the 1 yd line with the talent on offense that WOS had, then you got one hell of a defense.

that takes skill but alot more determination to win a game than anything else

I would have to throw the Columbia Roughnecks into the top 10. They have an outstanding D. Solid from top to Bottom.

I attacked you before for always being negative and picking against Giddings so, to be fair, I'll give you props for giving their defense some high praise.

I would love to see Celina play. I haven't had the opportunity, but it would be a pleasure. Maybe those underdog Snyder Tigers will suprise a few more teams and make this happen for me.

Since defense wins championships, isn't it great that there is one thread to which we will ultimately have an unrefutable answer?

Or is it possible that someone will still want to argue after December 23?

I know that 19 points a game is a lot when you have a questionable offense, but Graham's D spent a good chunk of time on Saturday on the field w/ the 6 turnovers and had the heart to keep going. When was the last time that something like that happened? 6 turnovers and that team still won?

Who-dun-it!!?
