I know they score quite a bit ....balanced offense like Cuero . Stud RB/LB, QB,WR great athleticism all around a little more size than Cuero but not as fast ....all the making's of a good game .

Wimberley rode quarterback Ricky Beaty's perfect passing performance to a 52-7 victory Friday night over Medina Valley in Class 3A Division II second-round action before 2,698 at Comalander Stadium.

Beaty completed all 17 of his pass attempts for 328 yards and three touchdowns as the Texans won for the 11th time in 12 games.

"I've never had a game like this," Beaty said. "It's the best individual game I've ever had. My receivers ran good routes and did everything right. When things broke down, I was able to scramble and my receivers were able to get open."

Beaty tossed touchdown passes of 43 and 35 yards to Len Thompson and 58 yards to Todd Gold.

Running back Michael Buse scored on runs of 22 and 1 yards, and wide receiver Richard Samuel scored on a 7-yard run for Wimberley.

Reserve quarterback Barron Scudder had a 3-yard scoring run, and linebacker Cody Clement kicked a 25-yard field goal and seven extra points.

"The kids came out and took care of business," Wimberley coach Weldon Nelms said. "I had been concerned that our kids would be looking ahead. They came ready to play."

Wimberley faces Cuero, which beat Rio Hondo 21-8, next Friday in San Antonio at a site to be determined.

"It wasn't much fun," said Medina Valley coach Brian Emerson, whose team finished 8-4. "There's not much you can say — Wimberley performed like state champs."

The Panthers averted a shutout when quarterback Matt Gonzales connected with Paul Stein on a 4-yard pass with four seconds to play.

"Beaty is a smart player who makes great decisions," Nelms said. "He's one kid who gets the job done. He's got a good line and good receivers. His perfection was an overall team effort."

Beaty connected with six different receivers, including Buse, who made a brilliant one-handed catch of a 21-yard pass in the first half.

"You can only cover receivers so long," Emerson said. "He's (Beaty) so mobile and has such good vision that we couldn't keep him contained."

I would be shocked if we are bigger than Cuero...I bet you'll see you have the size advantage by a good margin. As far as speed? You are 100% correct, Cuero is faster...faster than probably ANY team in 3A. But we have beat quite a few teams who are bigger and faster!!!

What would you like to know? We have an excellent spread offense with a very good quarterback, a 6'5 receiver, two smaller speedy receivers, and also a kid named Buse at runningback. The D is not the code red of last year but has improved greatly throughout the season and was as close to being Code Red last night than all season long. We lost the first game of the season to Giddings and have beaten ranked teams Liberty Hill, Liberty Euylau, and Abilene Wylie. Heres the right up in the AAS about last nights game.

Ricky Beaty completed all 17 of his pass attempts for 327 yards, throwing two touchdown passes to Len Thompson and another to Todd Gold to guide Wimberley (11-1) past Medina Valley (8-4) in a Class 3A, Division II area game in San Antonio.

The Texans, piling up 452 yards of total offense while allowing only 179, also secured two rushing touchdowns from Michael Buse.

Wimberley, which extended its winning string to 11 games, will face second-ranked Cuero in the regional semifinals next week.
