Celina has a pretty good running back themselves (1,200 yds, 20+ td's)--it will be interesting to see how the defenses stack up.

Let's get it started!

make that 11-0 for celina, 10-0 for madison!

At the Half.. speaking of Texas A&M commits.. Bradley Stephens talks :)

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 09:18 PM
QB Wallace is pretty shifty, but his o-line is going to have play better.

Early thougts--McNeal has only 2 or 3 carries yet

prosser keeps being called processor -- TXBC!!

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 09:20 PM
Celina already has 6 or 7 penalties for a huge amount of yardage

this and the 2 point conversion will likely be the deciding factors in this game, if it gets close

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 09:21 PM
How's it Going TXHSFB? You've got something pretty good going with this passplay idea!! good to see you in here

Some Stats to chew on:

Celina has the current longest consecutive 10-win seasons (13)streak in the state, three behind the record held by CC Calallen

Since 1999, their regular season record is 79-1

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 09:25 PM
only loss during that time was to Gainesville (state champion) in 2003

unknown at this point who scored it, but Celina is ahead 22-6 with 4:34 left in the second quarter

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 09:32 PM
interception by taylor kolb for celina!

Why is madison running empty backfield sets?

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 09:33 PM
Madison is killing themselves with unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, and now celina is at the twenty with a chance to put it away.

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 09:35 PM
Another stat:

Celina's average record since 1994 is 13-1

The bobcats are 4th and 1 from the 18 and going for it

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 09:38 PM
Celina ahead 29-6

less than two minutes remaining in the first half

It appears Celina's penalties are being offset by their dominance at the line of scrimmage.

However, McNeal's absence in the backfield is unacceptable

charlesrixey

thanks TXBC!

some other stats on page 3.

Celina is currently 0-2 in the area round in 3A, but that is about to change.

Celina also has the state record for consecutive playoff wins (25) as well as the overall state record (68 wins, fifth all-time in national history)

Former QB adam Herrin (1998-2000) is the only starting qb in texas hsfb history to win 3 state championships.

his opponent in the 2000 state title game was Mart, with current Texas WR Quan Cosby as the opposing qb.

Herrin had 350 yards total offense against Cosby's 300, the offensive and defensive AP player of the year that year

Madison passing fairly well, down to the 15, but the Bobcat defense has stiffened inside the red zone

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 10:26 PM
Madison goes for it on fourth and 11 and McNeal catches a pass at the 11 but can't get the first down, Bobcats take over.

Waldrep takes it again, grabs a first down at the 18.

Chatman for Madison twists his "third ankle!"

can't wait to keep listening throughout the playoffs!

charlesrixey

Celina keeps driving down the field, first down at the 35. Waldrep is having a heck of game pounding--now to the 48.

'I probably shouldn't use Trojans and protection in the same sentence'

'Is there a tear?'

43-6 Celina over Madison at the start of the fourth on a one yard scamper by Waldrep--not sure how many touchdowns he has, but at least two by my count.

Madison could just never get the ground game going, as Celina dominates time of possession with another 90 yard drive.

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 10:44 PM
McNeal finally has a long run to the 35

charlesrixey
11-24-2006, 10:55 PM

DAVE LANCE / The Dallas Morning News

MCKINNEY – There's a reason Troy McCartney's halfback option touchdown pass in Celina's 43-6 win against Madison was right on target Friday.

"We've been working on it more in practice," McCartney said. "My adrenaline was pumping, but I threw it softly. I said to myself, 'I gotta sell the run real good,' and they bit."

And just like that, Lance Clark had a 29-yard touchdown catch, giving Celina a commanding 22-9 lead in the second quarter.

Sophomore McCartney rushed for 71 yards on 12 carries, and Charley Waldrep, another sophomore, rushed for three touchdowns and 178 yards on 26 carries.

"We just ran hard," McCartney said. "We said, 'We've got to play like seniors, like it's our last game.' "

Celina (12-0) moves on and it has a dominant offensive line to thank. It allowed Celina to move the ball mainly on the ground.

"We talked about running the ball," said Celina coach Butch Ford, whose team has won 28 straight games. "But it kind of went off better than expected. Our offensive line and our running backs all block well."

The defense wasn't bad, either. It held running back Shawnbrey McNeal, who is verbally committed to Texas A&M, to 22 yards rushing on 11 carries.

"The bottom fell out," said Madison coach Ronald Johnson, whose team finished at 11-1. "We couldn't stop 'em. Celina ran it down our throats. But we had a good season. A lot of programs didn't get this far."
