IPOD suggestions

My son has requested an IPOD for Christmas - I am totally clueless on this subject. I obviously know it's something that is small and stores music :p but that is the extent of my knowledge - those of you that have IPOD or the equivanent of such - any suggestions - what to look for and steer clear of? I was figuring about $250 - thanks

Video Ipod (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5273429) is the most popular. (Apple Ipod Video)

Necomer MP3/Video Player (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5223245) which from what I heard, the other 2 are better at the moment. (Micrsoft Zune)

MP3/Video Player with Widescreen (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5192519) which is good, but is $75 more (Creative 30GB Zen Vision W)

Hope it helps. I prefer either the Creative Zen Vision: M30 or the Apple Ipod Video.
