Lufkin is playing Round Rock in the next round of the playoffs. Here's a slideshow of a new stadium northwest of Houston in Cypress-Fairbanks where they're playing. Insane.

The school board is under a bunch of heat for spending 80 million on athletic facilites. This is overkill IMO.

That is REALLY nice! The only think I don't like is how the two levels are split off of each other.

If you were sitting in one level and had to go to the other for some reason (like I always seem to have to do)...it would be a pain in the butt!

I like when they just have one walkway, which gives you the option to go UP or DOWN!

You can go here to read more about the complex:

Evidently, they included the athletic facilities in their bond pkg that also had 7 new schools included in it. Pretty smart! ;)

They should allow you to vote on separate things in the bond, not as a whole. If you vote against it, it's like you're saying the kids don't need new schools. But that complex is just rediculous.

The District has Eight (8) 5a High Schools, there are plans to build two more. I think they got off pretty cheap. Considering that they used to have to rent the Compaq Center for graduation because they didn't have a building big enough. Most big school districts have a new stadium, Round Rock ISD, Galena Park ISD, most of the North Dallas Schools etc.

Just to put it in perspective most 5a schools have about 3500 kids. Roughly half the size of the average 3a town. So imagine everyone in your district pitchin in on a complex.

pretty nice. i nearly mistook the football field as a castle's courtyard! but hey, thats what the economy in houston is like, especially in the suburbs like in the cypress, woodlands, and sugar land areas. it doesnt surprise me. that whole region is booming beyond anything i coulda ever imagined, and i know things have changed quickly over there bc i grew up in the houston area.

Property tax is close to 5% in that district.

That means if you have a 300k house you pay 15k each year in taxes. That is a lot of bucks.
