View Full Version : After Round 1, Your Pick for State Champs?

BIG BLUE DEFENSIVE END
11-20-2006, 01:35 AM
Now that the obvious Division 1 favorite has been eliminated, who do you think will take the crown this year? If I had to pick a team, I would say the Robinson Rockets. They play very well together and have a great strategy, and I think they will be very hard to beat.

Palestine or Silsbee

Too many strong teams left at this point.
I'll at least narrow it down to two - Liberty Eylau or Abilene Wylie

Both are coming off of big wins - Abilene Wylie in their classsic down to the wire style with the FG, (their special teams can produce when they have to - onside kick followed by game winning FG) and LE knocking off the favorite.

You have to like the winner of Region I vs. Region II in the semis. There are some good teams in the bottom half of the bracket but no perennial powers but you never know what can happen.

That would be interesting...we are probably the only team that beat them both this year.

I don't know, injured. RIII's probably the toughest D1 bracket this year. They started the playoffs with four or five teams who could realistically win just about any region (at least in Division I).

I haven't seen West Columbia play, but they beat a tough Bellville squad. I got to see Bellville play Giddings about two or three weeks ago, and they looked better than they did in 2001 (they had a great team back then--- the only team besides Everman to push Sinton).

very true. I havent spent much time researching the Region III teams. Will be a fun DI Backet now. Everyones favorite is gone so it is wide open now. I still like L.E. after what they did to the "Team of the Century".

I think A Wylie can pull it off if they play together and keep driving the ball like they did against Sweetwater. But, they'll be up against some tough teams. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Not only did my #1 pick get beat, but everyone of my picks to make the semi-finals got beat! Guess that means I don't know Jack. I'll just name the teams that beat my picks as possible champs---

R1-Abilene Wylie
R2-Liberty-Eylau
R3-West Columbia
R4-La Vernia

We beat 4A Tuloso-Midway (Not a good team at all), 4A CC Miller (Decent 4a Team that just lost in the first round last week), Zapata, Falfurias, Aransas Pass, Mathis, Orange Grove (Good team), West Oso, and Sinton. Our loss was to Port Lavaca, which happens to be a really good 4A Team that is still in the playoffs.
