i havent seen the other player's stats but he did great.

Is it possible to nominate an entire defense, because if so we should nominate columbia's defense. Bellville's offense scored a total of 0 points on them.

Flannel rips Bellville defense
Running back piles up 277 yards to lead Columbia

By DANA ROARK
For The Chronicle

KATY - When Columbia lost to Bellville in the second week of the season 42-13, tailback Jared Flannel didn't play and the Roughnecks wound up with their worst defeat of the season.

In losing, they rushed for only 78 yards as a team.

On Friday, Flannel more than made up for his absence in that contest as he pounded the Brahmas time after time in the second half on his way to 277 yards rushing.

His running helped Columbia to a 26-12 win over Bellville in a Class 3A bi-district playoff at Katy ISD's Rhodes Stadium.

With his team clinging to a 10-6 lead at the half, coach Brian Lane turned virtually the whole offense over to Flannel, as the senior handled the ball on 30 of the Roughnecks' 41 snaps.

Flannel picked up 229 of his 277 yards in the second half and scored a pair of late touchdowns to send Columbia (7-4) to a second-round contest next week against Silsbee.

Eschew is a good QB pretty spiral and nice rotation on the ball. Puts it where it needs to be. He isn't very good under pressure though.

Casey what do you think of Mike Hicks the CS reciever

He's hurt but when I saw him play against Rockdale he was as advertised. Great receiver LHPM said he tore his ACL about for weeks ago.

Gotta go with Flannel from West Columbia. Fitzhenry's stats were more impressive but he did that against a team that cannot stop the run, ever. Flannel almost single handedly carried his offense and his team to victory in the 2nd half against a very good Bellville team.

and look who's still playing.....thank you.

as for my predictions:

1) Flannel - all the stats above + every play on a drive that started on the Columbia 23 was a running play to him. everybody in the stadium knew he was getting the ball and they still couldn't stop him.

2) Jason Scott - OFF- don't know his stats at QB, but he had a hell of a game. DEF - 2 INT's and a Forced Fumble which was a big momentum shift in the game.

3) Justin Scott - OFF - don't know the exact stats but had mulitple big catches. DEF - 2 INT and a bunch of big hits.

p.s. - if anyone could get the exact stats for the twins (Jason & Justin) it would be greatly apreciated.

Sweeny's Tank Carder in 31-7 win over La Grange:

- scored 25 of Sweeny's 31 points
- 3 TDs, 4 PATs, 1 FG
- 18 carries for 161 yds. / 1 reception for 7 yds.
- many huge runs when everybody knew he was getting the ball, continually moved the chains against stacked fronts
- punted & kicked off well all night too (1 kick-off did not reach end zone & it landed at 1 yd. line)
- solid LB play all night, lots of big stops sideline to sideline
- team leader & leaves it all on the field every week.

**Flannel or Fitzhenry will probably win this, but Tank deserves mention too. Great game by all of these kids.

Nice words Pud. I passed thru LG last night coming home from Marble Falls. I have always liked LG & have many friends from there too. Miss eating at the Bon-Ton now that the roads have changed. Best of luck always to the Leps.

From what I have heard, Tank impressed the recruiters in attendance Friday as well. He is hard not to notice, rarely leaves the field. It will be nice to see him rewarded come February Signing Day. But I want to enjoy the games for now. Thanks again & take care.
