I'm guessing lots of country or something like REO Speedwagon or Journey.

I have "Across the Sea" stuck in my head...it's from the album Pinkerton.

Where did you hear/read that? I just watched an interview w/Slash and Matt that said no way would they ever do it w/Axl. Would love to see it though. They totally rocked when I was in high school.

In reality, I'm a pretty mixed bag with my musical tastes. More than anything, I listen to:

-Old-school alternative... the stuff that was on in the early- and mid-90's (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Candlebox, etc.)

-Classic rock

-Western music/western swing (Max Stalling, Bob Wills, Asleep at the Wheel, etc)

-Old Texas Country (Pat Green pre-2002, REK, Owen Temple, The Great Divide with McClure, Charlie and Bruce Robison, Gary P. Nunn, Jerry Jeff Walker {more classic country, but we'll throw him in here}, Billy Joe Shaver, etc.)

-I really listen to laid-back music more than all the rest, stuff that just puts me in a good mood (Jack Johnson, Jimmy Buffett, Bob and Ziggy Marley, Root Hub, Larry Joe Taylor, etc.)

infamous
11-16-2006, 03:44 PM
awesome...so it seems the older crowd here is into more country base stuff compared to the younger-older crowd who's still rockin' out with glam rock and a few exceptions of 'hip hop stuff' as well as the real young ones who enjoy todays crappy music.

I haven't had the chance to listen to a lot of him, I'm just getting into it but I have heard The Cape and it is good...

My fav. by him is "Texas 1947"

Never knew it, but he went to High School in Rockport... built boats there...

He has a big rival though in Adam Carroll... Adam Carroll is writing some very interesting and witty folk songs...

not tryin to advertise, but if you are in the victoria area, you should come to Fanelli's bar on laurent November 29th. The Hudson Falcons from New Jersey are coming through. They are old school punk and really put on a great show. They basically live on the road, touring all over the US and Europe. Yah, I read them in the paper the other day... I've only see him play once... he ran over to my step-brother's house when we were in HS and picked up the guitar for 15 seconds, blew me away at that time... now he plays bass, always thought he'd do lead... but hell it seems to be workin' out...
