Use an eliptical trainer for about 8 hours a day, and live off a broccoli, salmon, and grapefruit juice diet.

eating salad usually helps if it's tossed right...

I've got a friend that bought some stuff at GNC last week and has put on about 6 pounds in 10 days of just muscle. And no, it's not steriods.

20 40's - the fortys will get you ready for the type of running you will be doing
10 shuttles(for quickness/explosiveness)

I don't care about being explosive and have a 30 inch vertical. I just want to be able to run around some without having to bend over after 2 minutes.

Old Tiger

oh well run 20 40's a day

If you just want conditioning go to a football field near you... Run 20 yards up and 20 back, doesn't have to be a full sprint... then run 40 yards then run it back... then 60 then back, then 80 then back, then 100 and then back... Couple of bleacher wouldn't hurt, but running on the field is where you're gunna be running anyway so just run on football field...

That's atleast 600 yards a day, when you start feeling better about your conditioning in about 3 days, sprint the routine...

Old Tiger

are you going to be playing prior to or post thanksgiving? Because if it's post then it doesn't matter what ya do that food will mess your stamina up:p

Gobbla2001

And I don't mean doing it like running horses or gashers or whatever... if you want to do that after the 3rd or 4th day that fine... you've got two weeks, start out at a slower pace... don't sprint but don't jog, really just run...

Burn more calories than you ingest.

Moderation works.

Then cardio until you puke.

I miss 7 on 7 days, not real football but still fun.

you wanna be in shape, not just get faster, start running and dont stop until you fall down. sprinting does not build endurance as much as it increases speed. endurance is built better by just goin out and running, do some laps around a track or somethin, just dont push yourself too too hard early on

Gobbla2001

Also you may pull a small tire behind you while doing 40 yard runs... however many you think is good enough for your conditioning... I'd say nothing less than 10 for sure...

Exactly, I don't care about getting faster or exploding away from someone. I just don't want to be bending over at my knees after I run 1 route.

If I am lucky though I will be the QB, so I won't have to be as in good of shape.

form running also helps, working on your form... the better your form, the less energy you use running...

I'm not as out of shape as I though. I just played some 3 on 3 for about an hour, I only had to lay down twice towards the end.

Why did you wait until 2 weeks before the "game" to start your workout regiment??

I didn't know about it until yesterday.....

(gasser = sideline to sideline x 2 = 1)........2 gassers first 2 days, next 2 days 3 gassers, next 2 days 4 gassers, next 2 days 5 gassers, and so on.

time yourself and you'd better be busting guts.

I'm out to lose a few myself, and running always helps me get back into shape. The hardest for me is not having a couple of brewskis after work. Dang German beer is just too good!! I just came in from a 90 minute walk/run and coming back up the hill was a bear, but darn don't I feel better now.

I'd cut out food before the german beer, man.

You would enjoy it! The germans are very picky about what goes into their beers, and they still haven't come out with anything "Lite". Even though some crazy germans mix coke or lemon soda with their beers. I would never, ever do that!!

Sorry for hijacking the thread!!

There are two different things.
