As mentioned in Chinese culture it is very important to have a son and when you limit families to one child and naturally they want their first child to be a boy and resort to whatever it takes to get one. Now they are facing the consequences.

They got rid of their baby girls that way spiv. It is hard for me to be sympathetic with them especially since I lost my unborn baby girl 9 years ago due to my wife's pregnacy problems. People don't know a good thing when they have it sometimes till they lose it. That was the worse day of my life.

I work with a Chinese firm and have traveled there 2 times in the last 18 months. If you are a farmer in the rural areas, you can have more than one child. You can continue to have kids until you have a son. You can also have more sons, but it costs you in government payments.

Hey Boosty I have heard that the ones in China who did have daughters get a premium gift (lots of $) for their daughters though at wedding time.

What a great economical advantage for those that kept their girls.

And Boosty I have heard that they pay dearly for their sons to parents of other countries for their daughters at wedding time. :)
