I disagree totally!!! Every team in a district has a chance once the season starts to be a playoff team. When teams qualify for the playoffs, no matter the record, they are not losers in my book. THE UIL likes the money, that is why more playoff spots are coming open, pure and simple. If I were coaching, WHO CARES what your record is, you are in the playoffs. I have seen many a 10-0 team get beat first round. You can throw all of that out the window once the playoffs start.

"Losers", not losers ...........

and why do people always say the UIL is all about $ with absolutely no basis ... if so what is it

i've never seen a UIL financial report - but its public record i would think - but I'd be willing to bet they are NOT making a ton of $ ........... all the $ they make from football playoffs and the basketball state tournaments, probably their 2 biggets money making events, fund ALL of the other activites, academics and music in addition to athletics

You are probably right 3a fan. Costs $80 per ticket for the entire State Basketball tournament. Multiply that by 16,000!!!! Yes, they have to rent out the Erwin Center, pay for officials, etc... But, that is a lot of money!!! Gate monies go to the schools participating, officials and to the UIL. The UIL gets money from every possible playoff venue. The UIL is making money, do not kid yourself. Why do they want more teams in the playoffs? Probably to appease the Administrators who have to appease the parents and fans. Of course, this is just an opinion.

Point is, you are in the playoffs, you are NOT A LOSER!!!

Like you said, many of these teams play hard pre-district schedules. Look at ours, 5 out of our 6 teams in pre-district are in playoffs, among them Cuero, Hondo, and Devine. Those three, if not for eventual collisions with each other, would probably go pretty deep...I see Cuero winning it all. We played a ridiculously hard pre-district. Sure, we could have scheduled a bunch of bad teams, and come into district undefeated, but to what purpose? You dont get any better playing nobody.
