Ingleside vs Gonazales - D I Round I

After a big win over Sinton the Mustangs (9-1) look to continue there winning streak in this weeks Division I Round I matchup against Gonzales (3-7).


I haven't heard anything about Gonzales, but I figure maybe some Cuero fans might be able to help out in that dept. Any thoughts or ideas on this game?

From what I have heard Ingleside should take this one. They are from our District so Go Ingleside!

Seems like Gonzales turned it on at the right time. They won't be as easy as we originally thought they'd be (when they started the season 0-6), but I still think Ingleside should take.

Then again, anything can happen on a Friday night.


On a side note, we stole one of our coaches (an Ingleside alum) from Gonzales a couple of years ago.

Gonzales lost their first 6. Five of those were with their fresh. qb after J.Bird got hurt. He didn't return till district. they beat up on palacios and yoakum. but yoakum had only 5 total lineman by the end of the gonzales game b/c some got banged up the previous week against cuero and some got hurt in the game in gonazles.
Ingleside will only have a hard time if they let Gonzales get in their head with dirty play, mostly by offensive and d-lineman.

IF, and ONLY IF the Ingleside players keep their heads in the "game" and not in the "trash" delivered by Gonzales, they will be able to put up good points and keep the Apaches' points to a minimum... but if Ingleside let's the late hits (fist hits), linemen pushing defenders' heads into the ground and pokes in the eyes get to them, it's anyone's game...

yah, and shock collars... I think that's what the Cuero coaches had the Cuero players wearing that night... if they even looked like they may react to dirty play by Gonzo, the coaches would shock 'em...

I think our coaches will have our guys prepared for whatever Gonzales decides to throw at us. If its dirty play, I'm sure they'll have the guys prepared for it. Ingleside SHOULD win this game in my opinion if the can keep from turning the ball over.

I would think if Gonzales has played really dirty in the past they would have some players suspended. Are there any rules that can enforce a players suspension by the UIL?

Gonzales is very sneaky about their tactics, there could have been about 5-7 more personal foul flags thrown in the
cuero game but they are good about doing the pushing and prodding when the refs are busy spotting the ball.

Gonzales does have some guys that can catch the deep passes. Ingleside has to have their secondary ready, but still watch for the qb to run, mostly those option type plays out of the gun like texas does

I saw one of the cheerleaders try to take the "Came and took It" flag on the field after that game and some of the coaches had her put it away.

Ingleside should take this game easily. If they keep on doing what they have been doing. It's going to be a piece of cake.Ingleside is the only team out of only region 3 and 4 that they have a record of 9-1!!!! They have a good record going into the playoffs. If i was a coach i would be trying to get that film when they loss against 4A Port Lavaca. To see how they stopped that passing attack. Good luck.

We were missing five starters (a couple who played both ways) for that game. We led until late in the third, then PL-C's depth was just too much.

Still, I don't expect Gonzales to lay down for us.

Gonzales will be dangerous for yall, no doubt. If they run it with some success and yall have a slow first half( 2 of the lst three games) then they might develop some confidence. I saw Gonzales last year in Bi-district and they were no slouches(lol I know this year is different). I'm sure their coach will have them prepared for this week, too. I'll still say losing Gonzo by 20. But that's if Ingleside doesn't come out committed to the pass over and over again.:doh: :)

First of all, I am new to this board but can't stand how Cuero is thinking that they were so innocent in the game vs. Gonzales. Both teams were dirty! Both of them! There was a whole lot of crap being thrown and Gonzales just got caught. It was Cuero provoking some of it. They did win and have a good game but quit blaming all the crap on Gonzales. Gobblers were not innocent little angels and their fans are naive for thinking they were. Talking to the Gonzales fans and players, it was a whole different story so don't believe everything you read posted by Cuero. One of our players got bit by Tre Grey and I actually saw the bite marks. Animals!

As for Ingleside, our record is worse than yours but who have you played? Not much talent on that schedule. Try playing Cuero, Luling, Hutto, La Grange, Yoakum, and La Vernia. Ingleside might not even be in the playoffs with that line up!

I guess we will all see tonight but I wouldn't be too overconfident if I were you Ingleside. You might have to save face later.

Umm let me see..

We played Zapata (in Playoffs), Miller 4-A (in Playoffs), Port Lavaca 4-A (in Playoffs) who is the only team we lost to, Orange Grove, Sinton. We have played some good teams. I don't think you can gauge the talent on the teams we played because you know nothing about them. Case in point.. we will just have to wait till the end of the game tonight to see who is the better team.

Sensitive? I am sure that dirty play on both sides of the ball. So get over it! As for Ingleside players, we are above that. But once a team is taught to play dirty they will have to do that winning or not. Train as you play! If you go by stats alone trying to say our schedule is weak, then you sadly mistaken of the level of talent in the Corpus Christi area. Only teams you listed are in your district which you beat Goliad, Palacious, Yoakum to make it to playoffs. Not to much talent in those three team also. Yoakum being the best of the three teams. Has for playin Cuero we did last year and at least score on them more than you can say this year. We are not over confident and we will leave it on the field tonight.

How many of those teams will still be alive after Round 1? We have actually played teams that have a chance a to win state. That is different. I didn't create this thread as a pole... I only asked what other people thought. I think Ingleside can win and you think Gonzales can win, but I never said that Gonzales hadn't played quality teams.

Did you actually bring up last year when you played Cuero? Last year has nothing to do with this year and Ingleside scored in the 4th quarter when Cuero put in 2nd and 3rd string. FYI the Gonzales vs. Cuero score last year was 20-12 (Cuero favor). Gonzales had their worst game agaisnt Cuero this year and they had one of their best which didn't help matters. Just wait until tonight. You'll see!

Quite possibly the two most talented teams we had in the better part of two decades combined for two wins. We tore up at the state track meet in '97 (placed second only to Atlanta in points) and had a good-sized, talented line, but that senior class didn't make the playoffs in a two team chase. My brother's senior year ('01-'02) they had more talent at the skill positions than anyone in the district this side of Sinton, but they didn't make the playoffs in a three-team chase.

We've never lacked for talent in the past, and from what I hear we should be OK next year. :D
