Tony Dorsett holds the longest play from scrimmage. Anyone remember that run against the Vikes?

Yep,I remember that play!!! If I remember correctly, what made it more amazing is that the Cowboys ONLY had 10 men on the field!!!

I sure do. I was working in Bandera that day and watched the game that night. Amazing run. It may be tied but it will never be broken. It was actually about 99 2/3 yards. What is hard to remember though is how did the Cowboys end up with the ball at their one foot yard line. What I think happened is that Minnesota had the ball inside the five yard line but fumbled and the Cowboys recovered at the one foot line. Can anyone remember?

Here is a link of the run. He was lucky the refs didn't blow a whistle after he started walking like they sometimes do. A great run. Vasher's run was obviously the whole way. Hester used a little trickery that could have backfired had the ref blew the whistle early. Great run!

Now someday someone will run it 109 yards for a td. It may be tied but this record will never be broken.

Who's record did he tie? Was it on kickoff, int return, or what? I seem to remember the old Oakland Raider safety, Jack Tatum running an interception back 106 yds. I had always thought that was record.

never mind, I looked it up. I'm behind the times

Actually, on this same weekend last year Nathan Vasher of the Chicago Bears returned a missed field goal 108 yards for a touchdown against the SF 49ers.
