I heard something like 29-27, but i am not sure about that. It was like a 5th hand report and it was cold and i could have been mistaken

Thanks for the help. I saw a 30-30 tie heading into OT on TV, never heard any more. But Wharton must have won I guess.

Crazy weather tonight when that front blew in for everybody around SE Texas.

**Edit: Houston TV had wrong score. Sorry for confusion. Wharton won 29-21 in OT.

Wow, what a game. Wharton scored with 8 seconds left in regulation (missed PAT) & then went to OT tied at 21.

Wharton scored 1st, went for 2 & made it for 29-21 lead. Needville threatened but fumbled on 4th down, game over.

No faith in kicker obviously. Gutsy move by the Wharton coach (better chance at making 2 than 1 in his mind I guess).

Wharton will play undefeated & #3 state-ranked Giddings next week in the playoffs.

This was Wharton's 3rd OT game on year (beat WC, lost to Sweeny, beat Needville).

kinda makes you wonder, MAYBE... since they scored first AND knowing they can lose by 5 and still make the playoffs, he said what the heck, go for two. If wharton misses the 2pt try, and needville scores... does needville miss the xtra point on purpose...or kick it and win the game by a point, but lose the playoff spot...(knowing they (needville)had to win by 5 (or 6 or whatever...)

Not that anyone wants to lose a game heading into the playoffs but there could have been a little higher level thinking there.
I mean there were no district championship implications on the line(sweeny had that in the bag already) and whoever advanced was/is going to play giddings.

kinda makes you wonder...

Just trying to clarify in my mind...are you saying that Needville didn't want to be the ones to have to play Giddings?

no, just saying one of those two teams WAS/IS going to play giddings.

if wharton missed the x-tra point, and was up 6... needville was going to have to play smart and miss their xtra point to tie the game to go to another OT.
If needville would have won by a point, they would have won the game and lost the playoff spot.

Great game! Congrats to the Tigers. These tigers never give up!

I haven't seen Giddings play this year, so how does Wharton match up with them? Any predictions?

Exactly, Needville had to put it to a 2nd OT and we figured we would make them have to earn the 2 to send it to 2OT. A one point Needville win still put us in the playoffs.

Great job by Wharton for not giving up.

We tip our hat....

In my opinion, 3 of the top 4 players in the district were playing in this game.....and ALL brought their "A" game...

Ansley: Led them back for the win....makes plays out of NOTHING.

Shelton: Stud.

Wilkerson: 319 yds on 39 carries.

I didn't get a chance to really look at the stats this morning, I knew that Wilkerson had about 300. How many non-Wilkerson yards were there?
