Homer made the cover of Baseball America for the October issue as the #1 prospect in the top ten minor league prospects out of the Southern League of Professional Baseball. He was a first team selection in the Florida State League in A and moved up to AA to become an All-Star and made an impressive debut in the Futures Game. His fast ball of 97 mph plus a good curve ball and improved change up have propelled him to the top of the heap. Way to go Homer!

Best of luck Homer. Great talent no doubt. Watched him in the Futures Game this year. Lots of Texas kids in the Reds system like Homer Bailey, Drew Stubbs, Carson Kainer, Jay Bruce, etc. Adam Dunn is in the Majors of course too.

Reds have taken a Texas kid 4 years in a row with their top pick:
