"Everman, the defending state basketball champion, is hosting the eight-team Corey Fulbright Classic, which began Thursday and concludes Saturday. Profits from the tournament will be donated to the family of Fulbright, the Everman football player who was paralyzed as he attempted to make a tackle during the 2002 state championship game. Everman Coach Brian Hannas said he expects very few operational costs for the tournament because area businesses have donated food, teachers and parents have volunteered to work, and the Fort Worth Chapter of Officials donated their game fees. The eight teams competing in the tournament made a gift presentation to Fulbright and his mother before Thursday’s games. Hannas said a donation would also be made to the Craig Boatwright Scholarship Fund. Boatwright was a senior on the Everman football team who collapsed and died Oct. 16 while jogging on the track at the stadium."

The eight teams participating are:
Brewer, West Mesquite, South Hills, Richardson, Carroll, Wilmer Hutchins, Aledo, and Everman.
