ABILENE -- Fire investigators say someone set fire to the field house at Cooper High School Wednesday morning. People noticed smoke coming out of the field house about 9 am and called the fire department. The fire was centered in the freshman locker room. Although firefighters got the blaze under control in about 20 minutes...the building has extensive smoke damage from burning plastics. Cooper coach Mike Spradlin says they've lost quite a bit of equipment for the freshman football team and cleanup is underway. The freshman football game will go on Thursday and they will be borrowing helmets from Madison to play Abilene High. No one was hurt in the fire. The investigation into the arson continues.
