COLLEGE STATION, Texas- Texas A&M junior center Cody Wallace has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District first team the organization announced. With the first team All-District nomination, Wallace is eligible to be named to the Academic All-American squad which will be released later this season. Wallace carries a 3.29 G.P.A. as he works toward his undergraduate degree in Sport Management. He was also elected by his teammates to serve on Aggie head coach Dennis Franchione’s Leadership Council.

In addition to excelling in the classroom, Wallace is also a standout on the field. Wallace is currently on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, which is given each year to the most outstanding center in college football. The Cuero, Texas native helps anchor an offensive line that has already plowed the way for Aggie rushers to rack up 2,127 yards and 27 touchdowns. Due in large part to Wallace’s dominance up front, the Aggies are averaging five yards a rush and hold nearly an eight-minute per game advantage in time of possession. The Aggies currently lead the Big 12 in rushing offense at 212 yards per game.

Last season Wallace started all 11 games for the Aggies. He helped anchor an offensive line that led the way for the Aggie offense to rack up 4,865 yards of total offense. The team also rushed for 234.9 yards per game, which was A&M’s best rushing effort since 1991.
