Well i really think Rutgers has a chance to win tonight and if that happens that should move texas to number 4 in the bcs standings but i believe at the end of the season its going to be a rematch out of Ohio and Texas because i believe Florida is going to get upset by florida state last game and Michigan loses to Oho

I Think that Louisville will be too much for Rutgers.

I think that Louisville will move the ball a bunch (400+ yards)

and if louisville can stop the run then they will be in good shape....that wont be as easy as it sounde though.

should be a good game.

once again....i wish i had TIVO. 2 weeks in a row i will miss a good game on thursday night.

My pick is Rutgers by 3 da ville can't stop the run and rutgers will pound all night to keep the ball away from them .

Florida doesnt need to lose for Texas to jump them within a week or two. If Tennesee, LSU, and or Arkansas loses, Texas leap frogs Florida. I think Louisville squeeks by Rutgers tonight. If they do, heck, maybe PITT can somehow sneak up on them. Think Louisville can smell it now though.

I think they have a chance. I have watched them play a couple of times this year and they seem to cover the spread from time to time:D I think they have a better shot at winning than most people think. JMO

Rutgers will keep the ball away from Louiville only if they can get 3rd and short and have a good 3rd down percentage. they don't want to get into a shootout with louiville. If rutgers can 5-6mins on each scoring drive they have a shot! Rutgers best defense against Louiville will be thier offense!

I know everyone's hoping and praying, but I just can't see it happening. Louisville's run defense is solid, and the WVU running game is better than Rutgers.'

I think that if Louisville receives the kickoff, it's over. SUNJ is going to have to play field position and control the clock to win the game, and I just can't see the Knights' DBs keeping up with Brohm and co.

If Rutgers falls behind by two TDs, it's over. Period. I think Louisville goes up 14-0 towards the end of the first half. Rutgers rarely scores on the first posession, and they haven't done it yet this year against a run defense with a pulse. (Illinois, Howard, Navy, and UConn are the only teams they've done it against)

I know the Texas fans on the board really want this to happen, and a part of me is pulling for Rutgers (I'm an Auburn fan... they still have a shot at the NC), but I can't see it happening. Any way you want to slice it, SUNJ is a second-tier Big East team. Barely better than UConn, South Florida, Syracuse, and Cincy. On the same level as Pitt and North Carolina (UNC!!! They barely beat I-AA Furman and got shut out by a pathetic Virginia team), but not up to par with the big boys.

This one gets ugly, quick. The Scarlet Knights make the score look respectable in the fourth, but it'll still be ugly. At halftime, I could see the score being 28-3.

Louisville 48
SUNJ 20

Rutgers is the most overrated team in the country right now, not Notre Dame, Auburn, Texas A&M, or Nebraska.

I have to disagree with you IMO Norte Dame is the most overrated team in the top ten. If ND played Tech, tech would put like 60 on that horrible secondary! ND had to out score UCLA, and USC will stomp a hole in them. Auburn is very talented but IMO they aren't playing like it. Irons has been hurt and that is part of the problem. If someone could line up and run they can beat Auburn. Thats what florida did, but the turning point in that game was the block punt. If Tim Tivo (sp) played and they ran the option with him the whole game florida wins by 10 IMO. Auburn will lose another game before the end of the season.

And rutgers by 3! IF and only if they can control the line of scrimmage and keep the ball away from louiville and have to win timo of possesion and have a good 3rd down percentage. In other words play near perfect. And i think they are hyped up enough to get it done tonight!

wedo, I respect your opinion as you're probably one of the more informed CFB fans on the board, but I think that ND's one of those teams who plays to the level of their opponents. They're definitely not the most talented team in the nation, but they can play with anyone on any given day. Tech could very well score 60 on them, but ND would proabably score 75. Can't see Tech taking out the Golden Domers. They may not have a great defense but they have a championship-caliber offense.

The only reason Auburn was susceptible to the run against Arkie was because they were still beat up from the LSU game. One of their DTs was out, one was playing hurt, one starting LB was out and one was suspended. It was a game of matchups, just like the Ole Miss game. Auburn's defense is built to be small but fast anyways, and when you take away the speed of some of the starters and then go right at their weakness on a given day (in this case, the softened-up front seven) and you have a big back to do it, your game plan becomes that much easier. Arkie wouldn't have won if they had played Auburn the week before the Tigers met up with the Bayou Bengals.

And Florida gained a lot of rushing yards against Auburn, but most of them were on trick plays or from the receivers. Tebow got his, as did WRs Percy Harvin and Andre Caldwell (the two receivers combined for 113 yards on eight carries), but the Gators only got 61 rushing yards from their running backs. I know Meyer's offense employs the receivers a lot in all aspects of the game, but he was pulling trick plays out of the bag on this one because he couldn't find a way to break Auburn. Auburn was clearly the better team that day, and that was with the team at about 75%. Both lines had been blown up, so it was easier for Florida and Arkie to control the LOS...

...which leads me to my next point. That Louisville front seven is waaay too much for the Rutgers' OL. Rutgers' best player (Ron Rice) has to get to the LOS and find a way to fall forward for them to be successful, and as big and athletic as the Cardinals' defensive line is, I just don't see it happening.

Rutgers is a feel good story, but Louisville just has too much offense. Ray Rice of Rutgers is a solid RB but that will not be enough. Greg Schiano is doing a great job & may end up in Miami soon. But hey, I was wrong on WVU last week!

Louisville 31
Rutgers 17

I don't know, 213 yards in a half isn't exactly great D.;)

I agree with you. I don't think Rutgers has the horses to keep up with Louisville, so they have to take advantage of every opportunity they get.

Then again, I think every team should go for it at the end of the half.

Just offense. No special teams. They have three more passing yards than RU's total yards.

I hate to say it, but Rutgers is getting dominated. They're still in it, thank God, but they're lucky they are. Louisville's playing sloppy and still doing alright. Granted, RU isn't playing mistake-free, but they'd better start if they want to keep up with the Cards.

I'd just like to hear the logic behind it...

my logic would be:

If I had the ball, and I'm the underdog, and the good offensive team gets the ball FIRST in the second half, I go for it so that maybe I can get some points before they do so my team will have a better chance...

In a close game, where I get the ball first in the second half, and am playing a team that has the guys to score against mine, I go for it then, get those points, then try to get the first points of the second half...

I want to know why you wouldn't... may be good reasons, I mean obviously you're going for a deep ball and it's almost like a punt, maybe don't want their guy bringing it back to the house, but I think you take your chances... that's just me though...

I always hear "we don't want to turn the ball over" and "you don't want to give the other team momentum," but aren't you taking that chance on every drive?

I've been to a few coaching schools and I still haven't heard a single reason that makes sense to me. Maybe it's that I'm a little reckless in most aspects of my life, maybe it's that I just have some common sense. Either way, it still doesn't make sense when teams do that, especially when you're either down or you have a chance to ice the game.

I think Rutgers is doing a good job of pressuring the QB and that'd be about it... they do have decent coverage forcing the QB to either hold on to the ball too long or to make bad decisions... not too bad for going man to man with those good 'Ville receivers...

gunna take a lot more though... let's see what halftime adjustments work and which ones don't, because there are gunna have to be major adjustments for both teams...

I hope so. Rutgers is doing a lot better than I thought they would.

Honestly, I think Louisville slowly pulls away unless SUNJ gets some momentum behind them. If Rutgers falls behind by three TDs, it's over.

I can definitely see Bobby Petrino putting together some adjustments (Rutgers' in-game adjustments started slowing down that offense towards the end of the half) and putting one in the endzone to start the second half.

I honestly think Rutgers is maybe doing the best they can do on defense... offense is where they should adjust... what they should do beats me, but they need to do something...

Louisville's defense is alright out there, but on offense they have to protect the QB of course, I think they're gunna come out and mix it up a bit before falling back into their bread and butter (ewwww tricky)...

but as I've said, that may be why I'm NOT a coach...

I'm not sure, but I would guess that RU is blitzing their LB's because they're not athletic enough to man up in coverage. I noticed that they're not really blitzing their DB's, but send a LB or two (I include their bandits/rovers/whatever you wanna call them with the LB's) just about every play.

I'd like to see the Knights blitz a little, then hang everyone back into a max coverage.

Of course I'm not the coach and Coach Schiano is light years ahead of me in the play calling department, so we'll just have to see what happens.

was it something the player did wrong individually or was it the play call that was bad?

I just have hard time believe coaches call plays that are illegal...

I've seen a lot of those calls this year in both HS and college and do not understand why the coaches would call plays with illegal shifts in them...

In December 1825, the trustees rename the college in honor of Colonel Henry Rutgers, a prominent laymen in the Dutch Church, president of its Board of Corporation, and a church elder. Descended from an old New York Dutch family, he possessed valuable land holdings in the city. The Colonel graduated from King's College, was a Revolutionary war veteran, and held various posts of civic importance in New York. A bachelor, he later devoted $5,000 and the central college bell which still hangs in the Old Queens building.

It was not an illegal shift but was illegal motion by the receiver. Just before the snap he hopped forward so he was moving forward at the snap. Foul for illegal motion (which is what the R signalled although the idiot announcer said illegal shift)

people keep saying that he got a 2nd chance after blowing the 1st field goal. However, when I was watching the kick, it seemed to me that the long snapper snapped the ball once he saw that a guy was offsides for Louisville. Thus, Ito may not have been set and ready and expecting to kick the ball and thus rushing through his motion and pulling the kick would seem very likely. Any thoughts?
