Why not throw in Running Backs? Who is the best running back you have seen play 3A ball in the past 10 years?

dabryan blanton - forney 1999-2001

Blanton was great. So was Tommy Blake (AP), Cody Glenn (Rusk), Lennon Creer (Tatum-- still active), Theo Miller (Everman), Marcus Charles (Sinton), Shawnbrey McNeal (Dallas Madison-- still active), Terrius Purvey (Gainesville), and that kid who played for Atlanta in the late-90's.

But I'm going to give the nod to Gatesville's Taurean Henderson. I've seen Blake, Miller, Blanton, Charles, the kid from Atlanta, Purvey, and Miller, but nobody elevated their team like Henderson did, IMO.

Palestine was 4A when he was there. They dropped the year after he graduated.

I've also heard that Latreal Cooper was an absolute monster his sophomore year at Cuero, but I didn't get to see him until after his injury. A guy in one of my classes a few years back played football at Gonzales and Blinn, and he said that Cooper was probably the best RB he ever played against, but that he just wasn't the same after his injury.

If Cooper could've stayed healthy, we may be talking about him head-and-shoulders above everyone else.

I think Stephon hargrove will be on this list at the end of his career as well...especially if they decide to really let loose on his reigns...he has incredible size and speed, and if they let him run wild, he will be amazing.

Me and one of my buddies have been saying that we would make Stephon a free saftey. Could you imagine running a route across the middle against that guy. He could be a Roy Williams or a Shaun Taylor.

my lord...he would be worse than that. I would run that route away from him if he were back there...I can just see getting backflipped by him. I was wondering why he didnt play any defense??

Didn't he play DE last year?

Yeah he played DE and one of the few games I saw the Sealy RB broke one and he beat everyone down the field and chased him down.

he is really one of the only players I have ever seen that I can see playing any position on the field. He has the speed to play any Secondary position, and the size to play an end or backer, and the explosion to play nose as well...would break some kneecaps at nose, no doubt.

Jarred Flannel from Columbia. has 800 yards this year in 6 games with a broken foot. And was the player of the year in our district as a soph and a Jr.

Blanton had so many 6 carry for 250 yard games. It would be amazing to see what he could have done numbers wise if the opponent would have been scoring on Forney instead of them all being blowouts giving him an opportunity to play more.

Taurean Henderson from Gatesville.
