Definately have to give it up for Homer Bailey. 2 State Championships in the two years he pitched for La Grange. USA Today National MVP in hs baseball. All everything.

How many 7th pick first round pro draft picks do we have on this thread? $2.5 million signing bonuses? Yeah that's right just one, Homer.:)

Dabryan would of been a top 10 draft pick if there was some kind of track draft. :)

All good choices in posts & you can't go wrong with any of them.

But the Schobel boys from Columbus take the cake...in more than just football too. Great athletes...

Matt Schobel (Eagles TE)
Aaron Schobel (Bills DE)
cousin Bo Schobel (Colts DE)

I would throw Sweeny's Johnnie Lee Higgins in there too (football, basketball, & track). UTEP WR (some track too) now & Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist. Will be drafted this Spring by the NFL too. Kid can fly, timed in low 4.2s in 40.

Clint Finley of Cuero. 3 1/2 year starter at safety for Nebraska. One national championship. Floated in and out of the NFL for 4 years. State champ in the hurdles. Pound for pound the best 3A player I have ever seen.

I'd put him ahead of everyone I mentioned. Probably the best HS football player I've ever seen.

I know a girl that won 6 state tennis titles out of 8. The 2 she didn't win she got 2nd and those were her freshman year. The sad part is she's not even playing in college.

I dont get to see alot of east texas and south texas but M. Carrillo from sweetwater is one of the best I have seen. He was gifted physically and most important he had it upstairs. He averaged 2 points a game and got district mvp in basketball, that says something. Keenum was a great athlete as well. These kids were probably not as physically gifted as some of those mentioned but they had IT. That extra something upstairs that few kids have.

I felt sorry for him in football his senior year. His ability was spent trying not to get killed. He was amazing on the basketball court, he made everyone better.

Of course I've got to be a homer and go with Blanton, but for what it's worth, I think it really is him simply based on the fact that I've never seen one player who could change a game so quickly. While he was in Forney, he was like Vince Young was to the Horns...the talent around was good, but he made the team great. Never won a state championship, but he got darn near close a couple of times.

Andrea Garcia from Mathis from 2001-2005 (I think). She was some athlete. I hope Mike from Mathis will see this post and tell how she is doing in college. She was a letterman and star for Mathis in volleyball, basketball, track & softball. She didn't run track her senior year in hs because of local politics. She played great in volleyball, basketball (got scholarship here I think), track when she participated and softball. I remember one volleyball game we had them up 2 - 0 and even though I don't like to downplay the team thing she rallied her team with great play and they played better because of her and they were able to win the match 3 - 2 and there was only one person that could have done that to us that year and that was Andrea Garcia. She was very smart in the classroom. With all that athletic competition she did she was still able to be the valadictorian of her glass. I think she is planning to be a doctor and wish her success. She was a great all around athlete and smart too.

Not sure if she was the best athelete I've ever seen, but the Spears girl from Luling is certainly the FASTEST girl I've ever seen - Her name was real long and started with a "Y" (sorry I can't spell it) and her name is still listed as the record holder at the UIL Track Meet on more than 1 event

Where'd she wind up going to college?

Spears is at Texas. My niece is a teammate of hers there. She has battled some injuries & not become, so far, what they had hoped. Obviously very talented.

Texas won the indoor (2006) & outdoor (2005) nationally in women's track recently.

Hooker is a beast at Texas in track & volleyball. Sister was an All American too there (Destiny & Marshavet).
