That is true but others have done it (i.e. Vilma for the NYJ, or DeMarco(I think that's how you spell it)Ryans for the Texans.) Carpenter did have some downtime from an injury though his senior year so that could explain it.

I see what he was trying to do by stepping on the throats of the skins early after giving up a safety and great field position, but I really don't think we can blame him for the loss...I really think this one was a fluke--how many blocked field goals get returned? And how many times is a 15-yard penalty tacked on? Add it all in and Washington still barely makes the kick. Dallas simply snatched defeat from the jaws of victory today. Now the Cardinals will have to pay next week.

Going for 2 in the 1st quarter & converting would have meant an 8-5 game. Big deal at that point in the game. You chase that point for 4 quarters if you fail. It cost them in the end, which turned out to be a crazy ending.

I do not undertand how going for 2 was "stepping on their throat" at that time? Onsides kicking or going deep 1st play is doing that. Coaches go by that stupid chart almost 100% of the time & it is not always logical IMO. Take every point you can get until you NEED a 2 pointer (like 11 pts. down, you need an 8 & a 3). And only deep in the 2nd half too. I think Parcells got some bad advice, but he is the HC.

153 yards in penalties that kept Washington in the game. That's all I'm gonna say.
