Special Edition Game of the Week (10)

[LH Panther Mom]

# 1 ranked Mart Panthers will travel to Marlin to play the # 3 Bulldogs in this battle for the district 22-2A title.

Both teams are 8-1 overall and 6-0 in district. The Panthers loss came in week 2, in a VERY close game, to 3A Groesbeck. The Bulldogs lost in week zero, in a close one, to 3A Waco La Vega.

Can Coach Nails keep the Panthers' focus off the # 1 ranking and lead them to the district trophy? Can Coach Malone lead the Bulldogs to its' 7th (or is it 8th or 9th) undefeated district season?

Thoughts? Predictions?




On a side note, Coach Rusty Nails was an assistant in Marlin in the recent past, which may make this game a little more "interesting". ;)

I have a couple of friends on staff at Mart. Jeremy Colvert was a friend in college and one of my old work-out partners. Landry Williams is my sister's age and lived in IP from about 1989 to 1991 as his father was the Head Coach here. His sister is a hottie! Due to my ties with the Mart coaching staff I picked them to win this one.

im pullin for the underdog even though i never heard of any of these teams

Both have beat the common teams they faced by almost the same margin. with the exception of one game against Teague. Looks like Mart has the edge offensively and Marlin a tad better defensively. Mart wins a close game 21-20. Marlin hasnt given up more than 14 points all year and Mart has 4 shutouts in the last 6 games.

I pick Mart.
One of the reasons that Groesbeck beat them early in the season is that the coach didn't play several of his starters for disciplinary reasons.
Also, Jeremy Sanders has graduated from Marlin.
