Gainesville is 1-7 also. Before the season started who would have thought these two would be a combined 2-14 going into Week 9?

It's really no surprise.

There are a few teams in this area that had better enjoy their wins over Jasper this yr because I doubt it will happen again next year. Jasper should be good next year and SCARY good the year after.

Of course he's right! :) He's the MAN! And who knows Jasper better than an opponent?

I would say they are one of the very best 1-7 teams in the state.

In three of the games, Jasper was just flat out beaten. But with the right bounce of the ball, another break here and there, and it is conceivable that Jasper could have won the Livingston, Newton, Kirbyville, and Bridge City games. My point is, the past record is not necessarily indicative of Jasper's prospects next year, or even for the next two games for that matter. The best is yet to come! :D ;)

The JV and fish WERE the varsity to a great extent this year. That is what duckbutter is talking about. Those young players played several varsity teams tough this year, and now they have a load of varsity experience.

I think Jasper will have 35 returning starters. :D Well, they probably all started at some time or other during the year. :p

Its like the Lion in the Narnia movie.
Everybody is dancing on the carcass now but wait....who will still be dancing next year.

Believe me we are enjoying our win over Jasper this year because we know it might be awhile before we get another one. Jasper will be back next year right in the middle of the playoff hunt. That freshman that scored that 50 yard TD against us will be fun to watch the next few years.

I don't know how the subvarsity programs are doing, but I heard the 8th grade, 9th grade, JV, and varsity teams have won a combined total of 5 games. Is that true? I find it difficult to believe, but the person who told me is definitely someone in the know...

Yes, and did you know that was his very first varsity play? They brought him up to play scout team against the varsity, and the varsity couldn't stop him, so they threw him in against you guys. :) Yes, he will be something to watch.
