Liberty Hill is the quickest I've seen. Their OL isn't 6'6" 290 lbs but those guys are quick. Now their TE is 6'7" 260 and he is quick as well. You miss or are a little slow on your read and they are gone..............

I agree Dogman! I was most impressed with LH O Line. Reminds me alot of South Lake Carroll's line when they were all that in 3A . Not real big but could get it done!!!!

I did see Wimberely and Sweetwater in person a both have great speed. I'll give the edge to Sweetwater.

Cuero is very fast, scary fast. Liberty Hill has surprising speed too. Those are the only teams that I've seen with speed. Looking forward to watching some great playoff games in a couple of weeks!! :thumbsup:

They have speed that you can't understand until you play them...once Hargrove (who got 2nd in the 100 at state, and he really had a terrible start, and still barely lost) or Grey break away you can just stop. Ive seen Sweetwater and they arent as fast as Gilmer overall. Alto and Texarkana LE and maybe Carthage are faster than Sweetwater. Im not saying Sweetwater isnt fast because thats not the case because they are, very fast. Just happens to be some faster teams that I have seen.

Couldnt catch Brent Bode #5 for Liberty Hill. On his big TD run the D-Backs were with in a few steps, around 70yards later he had over 10 yards on them when he hit the end zone. :clap:

I agree that there is a difference in football fast and track fast. Just let Michael Buse of Wimberly get in to the secondary.....seeya, and dont show boat if u are on a touchdown run, cause that boy will run u down (real quick like).

Obviously, you were not at this game. It was such a quick hitting play with great blocking, that he was at least ten yards past before our secondary knew what happened. I am not sayin #5 is not fast, but when a back hits the hole running and the d-backs have to turn and then get to speed, the running back has a big advantage. There are guys on our team, that if they get in the secondary, he will not run down, period.

Actualllly I was there and watched this play from the snap. Brent Hit the hole fast but 2 D backs were close and I immediately thaught man with Cuero's speed they will catch him for sure (my prior post was not an insult, cause yall are a real fast team). But to my pleasant supprise Bode was able to not only out run the D backs but leave them big time en route to the money turf....;)

I hope the team isn't as cocky as you are, or that will be their downfall. If you think any team can just go in and walk over S'water you are sorely mistaken man. #1 Since you are relatively new to posting on the downlow, you probably don't know that the few football players from Cuero that are registered to post, DON'T post during the season (except for the occasional G84 post) -

#2 - If Wooden Bear is who I think it is ;) I guarantee he is no WANNABE -

We all had to endure the pre-State Track Meet rantings and ravings of how Sweetwater and their ZZOOOMMM fast sprinter was going to mop the track with our sprinters etc. We all know how that played out :) The trash talk started LONG AGO.......

have not seen Sweetwater play but i was at the LH-Cuero game..and Cuero is just flat out fast, all across the field! Grey and company will burn anyone in the state, no doubt.

But honestly how many Sweetwater fans have actually seen Cuero play in person this year? and vice versa? Not track but football?

cause until you do neither will know ( well obviously )

but i guarantee film does nothing for cuero's flat out speed.

and on another note, the Gidding's Buffaloes are a very good football team but ive seen them play against Hutto and i was not impressed at all with thier team speed. Yes they have Fitzhenry and he is like grease lightning but besides that they are no where near the elite teams in the state..not even close.


and as far as LH goes, we'll come at you 500 MPH all night long, but as far as true athletic speed, Bode is our only threat. Still doesn't mean our "small" line won't knock you on your butt though ;)

I really don't understand why track is being compared to teams having speed on the field. Winning in track is not ONLY because you are the fastest. There are many events that require good performances to win that ARE NOT speed related. Just because a school (this is in no way a knock toward Cuero by any means) does well every year in track does not mean they have the fastest kids in the state. Just my .02...

Liberty Hill has an all around consistant speed... everyone on the team can run fast... the oline may not be burnin' up the grasss, but they're quick enough to make those blocks that offense needs for the misdirection to work...

They are the 'quickest' team I've seen this year... I guess I'd have to say Bay City is the fastest I've seen this year...

I really don't understand why track is being compared to teams having speed on the field. Winning in track is not ONLY because you are the fastest. There are many events that require good performances to win that ARE NOT speed related. Just because a school (this is in no way a knock toward Cuero by any means) does well every year in track does not mean they have the fastest kids in the state. Just my .02... We make the bulk of our points burnin' up the track :thumbsup:

Speaking of speed, did anyone notice #5 Harris from Bellville track down QB Fitzhenry from Giddings? Now, for some reason Harris dove at him at around midfield (where my seats were) and missed his feet, but it was clear from our seats that he had already made up a lot of ground and was going to catch him. Everyone was wondering why he dove.

Speaking of speed Trey Gray #6 for Cuero I think is the fast in 3A.
Friday night he ran pass 3 defender to caught a 50 yarder for a TD. Those 3 defenders were about ten yards behind him went he caught the ball. I guess they were looking to see were he was at. :D :D

Looking at stats, it looks like Gilmer scores fast. They had 55 points on Longview Spring Hill while having the ball only 17 minutes of the game. That was scoring pretty fast! That might be the definition of a fast TEAM!

Time to settle for my side......

Sweetwater is fast. I've seen them against other teams. I never said they were the fastest cuz i dont get out to EVERY highschool game (that would be completely badass if i could, i really wanna watch Cuero and Gilmer at least once this year!) I know Cuero is fast just cuz of their track...sure track speed and football speed are different...but remember....pads might slow down some of the state's fastest runners a hair...but it also slows down the guys not even fast enough to make it to state in track...everybody wears pads so everybody is slowed down...of course it varies because some have more strength to not let the pads make MUCH of a difference. I just want sweetwater and Cuero to stop arguing and going at each other's throats cuz i have ALOT of respect for Cuero and their football program. besides...this board is all in good fun to me:) I'm in college and i participate in everything...and i've been on the downlow 4 years and thats why i still post on here, but trust me, theer are more things for me to worry about than what happens on here! Anyways, good luck Mustangs AND Gobblers!
