I know it likely won't happen this season, but why not?

His stats are as good as Troy Smith and Brady Quinn, has more rushing yards then both of them. Is on pace for 35 touchdowns.

Troy Smith CMP:145 ATT:214 YDS:1898 CMP%:67.8% TD:22 INT:2 RAT:174.3

Brady Quinn CMP:193 ATT:303 YDS:2233 CMP%:63.7% TD:21 INT:4 RAT:145.8

Colt McCoy CMP:147 ATT:217 YDS:1705 CMP%:67.7% TD:24 INT:4 RAT:166.6

I think it will come down to Troy Smith and Mike Hart, whoever wins the OSU/Mich game will win the heisman.

Unfortunetly it's no longer the hiesman, it's the hypeman

Two things.

1. Freshman Quarterbacks in todays media will never win it. Freshman running backs, definately.

2. Texas Lost. One loss basically will knock you completely out of the race. Name me one person who has a loss on their record in the last few years that turned out to win the heisman

1998 Ricky Williams Texas

1995 Eddie George Ohio State

1994 Rashaan Salaam Colorado

I'm assuming these teams didn't win the NC and didn't go undefeated.

He has pretty good stats, but not good enough for heisman IMO, but he has been impressive so far, if he continues to mature there is no reason why he wont get it eventually.

Quinn won't win the Heisman...unless OSU gets beat by Michigan...that and he has a big game vs. USC

They will practically hand it to Troy Smith otherwise.

Negative. He isnt the flashy, special player Smith is. Unless Troy were to take a HUGE nose dive of epic proportions he will win it. Colt just doesnt have that spark right now that makes people think he can break a game open.

Ron Dayne, Carson Palmer, Eric Crouch.

I agree that recent history points to the voters voting for the best player on the best team (granted, Crouch may have been the best player on the best team), but that's not the way I personally interpret the way you should vote. IMO, it's going to come down to Garrett Wolfe, Mike Hart, and Troy Smith, but Wolfe's tough stretch these past three games will knock him down a notch or two, and the winner of the OSU/Michigan game will take home the Heisman.

This is who I see getting an invite to New York:
Troy Smith
Garrett Wolfe
Mike Hart
Pick two:
P.J. Hill/Brady Quinn/Marshawn Lynch/Ron Rice/Ian Johnson/Steve Slaton

After not coming close to a 100 yards in any of his last 3 games, I don't think Wolfe gets an invite.

He still leads the nation in rushing by a large margin (if I remember correctly, over 200 yards) and is still among the leaders in scoring. As of this moment, I think he gets the invite, but doesn't get that many votes. I think the Ohio State game sealed his envelope.

If he can maintain a 100-yards per game average over his last few games, I think he goes to the Downtown Athletic Club. Who else would go ahead of him? Rice is a longer shot than Wolfe. Quinn, Lynch, and Slaton have the names, but not the numbers. Hill has the numbers, but is a freshman. If you want to look at Robert Meacham, Mario Manningham, Kenny Irons, or Erik Ainge, I could see any of them making the trip, but they're very longshots.

Marshawn Lynch and Steve Slaton would probably get the invite over Brady Quinn. Quinn and the Irish have to beat the snot out of everyone left on their schedule for him to get there...

I think Slaton's invite hinges on what he does Thursday against Louisville. I think Quinn gets the invite based on name and school. I think Wolfe's magic number for an invite is if he gets to 2,000 yards. I think another wild card making a push is Brennan from Hawaii.

Quinn still has USC and three pushovers. I think his Heisman chances hinge completely on the USC game. He was the big name coming into the season and if he can regain some of that aura in the voters' eyes he'd be the easiest to pencil in.

On that note, he hasn't done enough yet and would be one of the odd men out if the season ended today.

Absolutely on both counts. Brennan's biggest knock is that he plays for a team called the Rainbows, but if you can get past the homoerotic name and the fact that some label him as a system QB (a la Timmy Chang), he could be the darkhorse. What's their record, 7-2? I know they played 'Bama close earlier in the year, and I know they lost a tight one to Boise, but they're one of the conference frontrunners because of that kid right now.

If Slaton can carry WVU to an undefeated season, he'll finish top three. If they lose to Louisville or Rutgers, Brian Brohm or Ron Rice could easily snake his plane tickets (or in Rice's case, bus tickets) to the Downtown Athletic Club.

They prefer to be called The Rainbow Warriors lol. I had a friend who went to school there and he would always point that out to me, when I would give him hell for being a "Rainbow".

They are 6-2. Lost by 8 at Bama, and by 7 at Boise St. I believe those are the only 2 games they have put up less than 40, and they have put up 68 twice.

Well, he and Calvin Johnson.. best players at their respective positions Wolfe has got stuffed 2 out of his last 3 games and Johnson got held without a catch against Clemson you may want to rethink that
