Who wins this week?

Sealy @ Columbia
Needville @ Stafford
Brookshire @ Sweeny
Columbus @ Wharton

Columbia, Needville, Sweeny, Wharton

Wharton has to win out so they will not have to go to tie-breakers. does anyone know how the tie breakers go?

From what I understand:

1. Head to head match-ups

2. Point differentials (+/-) of the teams in contention against each other (just games against teams in contention for spots)

Sweeny has head to head against Wharton, WC, & Needville. So it basically comes down to the other 3 fighting for 2 spots. There is a chance of all 3 ending up 5-2, then tiebreakers would be in effect.

Biggest school enrollment goes D1, & then other 2 are seeded based on how they finished in district for D2 spots.

Each district sets tiebreakers before the season.

Right now Columbia has +18 on Needville and is -6 to Wharton. If Needville somehow beats Wharton then it gets real interesting!

Funny how not turning the ball over & winning changes everybody's mood huh? WC is a good team when healthy & clicking no doubt.

crazy district race...

This looks to be a week of games where one team will be heavily favored. I cannot wait until next week when Wharton and Needville hook up, but Wharton needs to take care of Columbus first and not look ahead.

fireman1
10-31-2006, 05:06 PM
yes Wharton needs to focus on Columbus even though Wharton should win but something may happen

I think Wharton beats Needville too next week, 31-17.

Then you will have:
Sweeny
Wharton
WC (D1)

& Needville stays home.

I think West Columbia wins big!! Maybe not by 53 but I dont think it will be close. If Needville beats Wharton, how many do they have to win by to get into the playoffs? Are the head to heads all thrown out the window? Columbia beat Needville by 21 and lost to Wharton by 6... so does Needville have to win by 16? Some one enlighten me please!!

g$$
11-01-2006, 08:42 PM
Head to head is the 1st tiebreaker, but if each has beaten the other then throw that one out.

So go to point differentials (+/-) with the teams in contention against each other. You are on the right track.

Read my post on the 1st page of this thread & go down.

If Needville and Wharton win

they will be 4-2 and 6-1 respectively.
The Necks will also be 4-2 if they win

If Columbia, Wharton and Needville end up 5-2 after next week

Columbia will make the playoffs

Wharton can lose to Needville by 5 points or less and make it to the playoffs

If wharton beats columbus they are in!! It doesn't matter if they lose to needville! Columbia lost to Sweeny and Wharton so they have 2 loses! Needville lost to Columbia and Sweeny so they have 2 loses! Wharton has only lost was to sweeny they only have one loss! But if they lose to Needville they will all have 2 loses but wharton has the tie breaker over columbia! So then columbia and needville will be tied for the third spot! Right??

Actually,

If Needville beats wharton in week 10, there would be a 3-way tie for 2nd. Assuming West Columbia wins out vs Sealy and Royal...

Positive points break the tie. Columbia has 18 points(win over needville)
Wharton has 6 points(win over Columbia)
Needville has 0 points(loss to Columbia)

So Needville has to win by 7 to get on.
Wharton MUST beat Needville to make the playoffs or lose by 5 or less.

How did you come up with 18 points for WC?

there is an 18 point max on positive points.

WC is in as long as they dont lose.

if needville wins by 6 then they are in:

WC +18
Wharton +6
Needville +6

if 2 teams are tied int positive points then head to head for the tied teams decides who goes.

There's the answer on max points & tiebreakers. Should go down to the wire next week. Good luck to all.

Question:

How is Needville +6 right now (lost to WC -18, still have to play Wharton)?

Won't it come down to next week for them? And isn't WC still waiting to see the outcome of that game even if they win out, & then tiebreakers if all tied at 5-2? Head to head if + points tied right?

that was a scenario.

I assume that WC wins 2 games. wharton and needville both win this week.

that was how Needville makes it in. if they win over wharton by 6 or more. if they win over wharton by 5 then the tigers make it in.

But you are right. needville currently has 0 positive points.

if WC or needville looses this week or next week then wharton is in with a win this week.

I was thinking afterwards about the performances by individual kids in that game. I know it's a TEAM game but you can coach, watch, & play lots of football & not see what that game offered in a lifetime.

Tank did his thing...
Ansley was great too...
Shelton caught 3 tds & ran for another one, plus an interception!

That's a WHOLE season for most people!

Anyway, let's move on & good luck to all.

I just hope that Wharton takes care of business these next two weeks, b/c it will be a shame if they do not make the playoffs after how well they have come together as a team this season and the determination they have shown to come back and prevail after being behind in many games at halftime.

Good Luck this week Tigers!!!
