To some of you, this may be an "eh" game. (Go ahead and get it out... :p ) But to the teams of District 25 and all of Region IV, this game may actually be on the of the key games south of Austin.

The Llano Yellow Jackets come into the game with a 6-2 overall record and are 1-0 in district. The Bandera Bulldogs have had a fairly tough schedule to date - 3-5 overall and 0-1 in district.

A Llano win will ensure them playoff spot and put them in the district title showdown with Wimberley in week 10. It will also put Bandera in a "must-win" situation Ingram in week 10 to make the playoffs.

Thoughts? Predictions?

2 teams with a combined record of 9-7? Instead of PI-Rio Hondo who have a combined record of 15-2.

Panther Mom, with all due respect, you're dropping the ball on this one.

Bandera may be 3-5, but those five losses were to five teams who will be in the playoffs, four of which have a good shot at winning their respective district title, three of which are still undefeated, and one of which is the number one (or number two, depending on the poll) team in the state.

Losses:
LaVernia
Hondo (undefeated)
Devine (undefeated)
Luling
Cuero (undefeated)

Avg margin of defeat in those five losses: 8 points.

Avg margin of defeat not counting the 20+ point loss to Cuero: 4.5 pts.

I'd rank Bandera as one of the top ten teams in all of R4, even with the three-point loss to Luling.

The last time I saw Bandera was in San Antone when Gatesville manhandled them in the state semi-finals in 2000. The last time I witnessed Llano play was 1993 when my high school took them behind the woodshed and beat them by about 40 during the year we went to the quarterfinals. Clint Finley and the Gobblers then took my school behind the woodshed in that regional final!

I'll go with Llano since one of the hardest hits I ever remember taking came in a junior high game against the Yellowjackets. That's my method for picking the winner. :)

This game could lead to major playoff implications for the entire region.

Losses by Bandera the next two games (highly unlikely in week 10, IMO) put Wimberley in Division 1.

Bandera and Llano are both likely to make runs in R4. Llano has a good chance at meeting up with either Hondo or Devine at Area, and Bandera's one of the favorites in R4, Division 1.

Bandera has had a lot of injuries this year, including a 6'6'' 270 lb. lineman, a 6'4" 240 lb. dlineman, and a starting cb/wr. broke his foot opening kickoff of the Luling game. this is the team that went to state in 7v7 the past two years, they are good, just had some injuries and small problems that end up making a big difference. when all our guys are healthy, Bandera will be tough to beat. I also just heard that the score of the Wimberly-Bandera game at half was 7-7, so Bandera can hang

Usually the team with the better record is the one playing better at during the season. That logic leads me to pick Llano

i think bandera will win this one and then they will be good from there on because they have been down due to excess of losses and they are a very good team

Bandera all the way on this one, just because of who we have played this season...7-7 at half against a very good Wimberley team...21 straight on Cuero's first team Defense, losing to Hondo in the last seconds on a bad snap, we have shown streaks and have been very good, and played some very good teams in Hondo, La Vernia, Wimberley, Cuero, and Devine. I see us taking this one, and then taking La Vernia in the playoffs as well, as that is who we will face in the first round.

I've always liked Llano - nice little town, beautiful area, decent little golf course, good bar-b-que

so for no reason football related I picked Llano :p

Bandera's 96th rated defense against Llano's 68th rated offense...maybe not a barn burner to watch, but I say Bandera wont be able to stop Llano by the time the final whistle blows. Llano by a bunch.

This one could be close, if Bandera comes out and plays like they did the first half against Wimberley then they have a chance at winning this one. From what I saw Bandera's D looked pretty good against the run and they were laying some licks to the Texans, they also came out and ran the ball almost the whole first quarter which was a shock to almost everyone. But they fell apart after half when Wim got up on them and if Llano does the same then it could be a repeat of last week, which is what I see happening.

wow, bandera cant stop the run...Yeah, Buse definitely went crazy on us, all 57 of his yards.

Buse definitely was kept in check during the Bandera game...though he had only 57 yards rushing, he had over 100 total yards, all purpose. Unfortunately he had 2 fumbles, one which was lost. But I dont think it was so much Bandera as it was poor blocking, but whatever the case Wimberley shifted gears and went to the air, which put the game away. This is why I think Llano will take it...but to be honest with you, a win by Bandera would benefit us, so I hope I am wrong.
