Yeah, I'd much rather steer clear of the franchises.
I heard about a burger joint called "Snuffy's"...anybody know it?

Five Guys Burgers ....... big -n- greasy!
oh never mind, thats in Herdon, VA
Snuffy's has good hamburgers. There's a couple of chain restaurants,I know you said you wanted to steer clear of them. But there's a McDonald's,Sonic and Taco Bell. Quizno's,Domino's Pizza and Golden Chick. Rio Grande is the Mexican Restaurant,I'm pretty sure TigerWR was referring to. El Poblanito is good too. A few others I can't remember off the top of my head. And of course there's Chili's.....................

Thanks to everyone for their help!
We ended up meeting at Snuffy's. The atmosphere was very laid back and we were told that it was once a mortuary and was haunted. The burger baskets were really good, and six of us got out of there for $30! I would definitely recommend it!

Where is that place located? I might go eat there one day next week.

Any of you Hutto folks that want a good meal around LH tonight...the Hobo Depot (in the middle of town by the railroad tracks) is serving all-you-can-eat catfish, and then there is always Margarita's for great Tex-Mex (on 29 just east of 183).
Just FYI....

Snuffy's is at 204 Hwy 79. It is right in the middle of downtown Hutto. Go east on 79 past the stadium and it is about a mile up on the left.
It was pretty cool. It had an old tavern type atmosphere, and had hundreds of dollar bills tacked to the ceiling. A lot of Harley memorabilia and very patriotic owner! They were plugging in guitars when we left. I understand they have live music every night.

I guess everytime I was heading up that road was to go to Austin or Hooters and was blinded by the headlights if ya know what I mean.
