3. Which former All-American at UT coached the Longhorns to a Southwest Conference title?

I think I got 13 or 14 right, & I am an Aggie! Family of Horns though who grew up going to games at both places.

I will double check the answers.

**Correction: I got 12 right & missed 3

Missed tv commentator
# of consecutive losses at Cotton Bowl
# Ricky wore (thought it was Nobis' #60 but that was Derrick Johnson, remember it now in Cotton Bowl to honor Doak Walker)

Here is another one. Which two UT players caused a goal line fumble in the UT vs Arkansas game in 1962 which was a big play that helped the Longhorns win the game?

That is some good trivia. I got 10 right, almost 11 (number 2 is a little tricky).

I don't know PhilC, but I do know in 1990 Stonie Clark made a game saving tackle at the goal line vs. OU late 4th quarter. I was playing baseball at Hill JC & remember it well. The traffic on I35 was brutal that weekend.

I read the national championship stuff last year leading up to the Rose Bowl. 1970 confuses lots of people. 1963 & 1969 are more clear cut, & of course 2005.

Guess: Scott Appleton & somebody else?

The answer to the 1962 question was Johnny Treadwell and Pat Culpepper who were two great linebackers on the 1962 team. Both were seniors that year. The main concern for the 1963 team (that went on to be national champions) was at linebacker. They knew they had a good returning linebacker named Timmy Doerr but they didn't know how their sophomore to be linebacker would do and whether he would be their weakness on defense. The worries were unfounded as the sophomore linebacker played great. His name was Tommy Nobis.

Yeah, I would say Nobis turned out OK. #60 is hallowed stuff at Texas & only worn to honor him occasionally.
