IMO baseball is all about traditon and 162 games is a big part of the tradition i dont know why they made it so long but i wouldnt want it any other way

Length of season will never change. Records & stats are a big part of baseball's history, & once they went to 162 games (from 144), it's a done deal.

I love baseball & part of its appeal is the best team should prevail over the long haul. It is a bit long though even for a purist like me.

But really, football goes from August to February's Super Bowl.
Baseball goes from April to October's World Series.
Not much difference in length (just # of games).

Basketball to me is way too long (November to June's NBA Finals).

Tigers in 7 (although I am surprised by the Cards playing so well).

records and stats are a joke in major league baseball in my opinion....

Since you admittedly don't like it, why are the records a joke too? Steroid accusations, etc.?

DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak
Cal Ripken's consecutive game streak
Aaron's HR record
...those are tremendous accomplishments.

I do hate all the talk about drugs & cheating, Barry Bonds, etc. But to dismiss America's pastime is rough man! I love it.

Old axiom says if you don't like baseball, then you either were not very good at it OR you don't really understand the finer points of the game. It combines skill, athleticism, coordination, & thinking in a team game of one-on-one battles.
