How do they divvy up the playoff money. Two years ago, gilmer met celina and they forced the buckeyes to drive 135 miles one way and the stadium was only 25 miles from celina, only about 50 people from celina showed up on their side; while gilmer had maybe 5000 to 8000 on their side. how to they divvy up the pot, would celina get half or what.

LOL, 50 people showed up to a Celina playoff game? What are you smoking?
How did Celina "force" Gilmer to drive 135 miles? If it was that big of deal why didnt Gilmer just stay home.

from my understanding, after the officials are paid, and the stadium is paid, the remaining money is split equally between the two school districts.

btw, celina had way more than 50 people there, but it was no where near the crowd that gilmer brought. but gilmer travels well. at a home game, you have to arrive at least 90 minutes before kickoff to try to get a seat, and even earlier for an away game.

The score was 45-24, at least from my memory.

As of 2002, Celina had a population of 2100, and Gilmer was at 4975.
It would stand to reason that there would be more people on the Gilmer side.

Celina does travel well, however i think many people saw the writing on the wall after we lost our first (and only) regular season game in a rematch with Gainesville 44-14. 2003 was a down year and it did not surprise me that 'only' 3,000-4,000 peple showed up on the Celina side.

Gilmer wasn't forced to play at the site (which was more than 25 miles from celina), they lost a coin toss for the location. Although i don't know the specifics of the arrangement, i do know that there is a loser in any coin toss.

if it makes you feel any better, when celina played the 2000 state championship against mart, they played after Ennis vs. West Orange Stark. The attendance for the first game was close to 20,000, and the vast majority stayed (based upon how full the stands were before and after) watch the second game. (13,000+ announced).

They also regularly have 2000+ in the home stands at football games.

The population of Gilmer according to the last census is only 4799. So those extra 6 or so people that might have been at that game don't exist. :D

And I think your score is right.

Final score was 45-22. I'm sure it was some sort of fluke. Everybody knows Celina could clean our clocks this year. Everybody in Celina, that is.

All the Div II teams can talk tough like that this season, as we'll never know.

Y'all have a ridiculously talented team this year. Heck your Buckeyes have tried to take it easy on teams and still wound up in the 50's and 60's by the end of the game. I can only imagine some of the final scores if you didn't call off the dogs in the 2nd quarter of most of your games. I really hope to get a chance to see that offense before the season is over. I drove to watch y'all in 2004 against Jasper and if I have to go that far again this year I'd do it. It'd definitely be worth it!

oops i made a typo on the playoff date; i should have typed 2003 instead of 2004. gilmer did lose the coin toss, thus they traveled 135 mi vs celina 25miles. i still say there were'nt more than fifty people on the other side. anybody got a shot of the other side?

I don't have a pic, but I was there, and it was the typical Celina playoff crowd; 3-5 thousand. You must have been sippin the Colt 45 on the long drive to the game.;)

I prefer a nice mixed drink. Screw driver, Crown/Coke, Dr. P/Jack. It doesn't matter.
