Texas has depth, but this still hurts any team. Looks like Roy Miller & others will have to pick up the slack...

Horns Defensive Tackle Out With Fractured Leg

Lokey fractured the fibula in his lower leg in the second quarter Saturday

Oct. 23, 2006

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Starting defensive tackle Derek Lokey broke his leg in No. 5 Texas' win over Nebraska and will be out indefinitely.

Lokey fractured the fibula in his lower leg in the second quarter Saturday, trainer Kenny Boyd said Monday. Surgery is scheduled for later this week.

Lokey had 24 tackles on the season and also played fullback in short-yardage situations for the Longhorns (7-1, 4-0 Big 12).

"This is an unfortunate setback for Derek and our defense," coach Mack Brown said. "It will be important that someone steps up and fill his void for us to continue to be one of the best defenses in the country."

Does he have a fibula in his upper leg?

Blame the AP not me!! The only thing I typed was the 1st line about depth. Fibula is the smaller, non-weight bearing bone in the lower leg (tibia is larger). Too bad for the kid. He's young though, he'll be back next year.

yeah that hit he took didn't look too good. He got up pretty quick from it though and it at least appeared to be a "clean break" in that there was no noticeable deformity and the bone didn't break through the skin as he was able to put some weight on the leg. Sure hope recovery goes well...
