What happened?
Darenque Giles completed 13 of 19 passes for 357 yards and six touchdowns. Combine that with three Castleberry trips inside the 17 yard line with no points it all but spelt defeat...
Castleberry took a 14-6 lead late in the first quarter, but from there it was the Giles show as Roosevelt ran off 34 consecutive points in a battle of 11-3A unbeatens.
Giles favorite receiver on the night was Danny Hogan. The two connected just five times, but all five were for scores as he finished with 148 yards. He also completed two passes to Vincent McNeil Jr. for 103 yards and Aubrey Jernigan for 30 yards and the other score.
Castleberry (3-4, 1-1) managed 234 yards led by Chris Thompson with 88 yards on 13 carries. Shane Adams rushed for one score and through for another, but connected just 12 times in 28 attempts with three interceptions.
Roosevelt (4-3, 2-0) finished the game with 454 yards total offense including 357 yards through the air. Giles completed 13 of his first 17 passes which included scores of 45, 11, 25,16 and 61 to Hogan and an 16 yarder to Jernigan.
The turning point came when Castleberry was down 26-14 midway through the second quarter and had it first and goal at the Roosevelt 8 yard line. After and incomplete pass and two running plays netted seven yards, Adams was ruled short of the goal line.
Roosevelt responded with a five play 99 yard drive just before the half to seal the victory.
