Hershey, the chocolate lab puppy we rescued, isnt doing well. She did though eat a little today. We went to walmart and bought some Gerber baby food and she sniffed at it and ate a little. We then shoved about 3 syringes full of it down her throat. She is showing a lot of signs of Distemper but dont know for sure yet. We have to watch her for a couple of days. Has anyone on here ever had a puppy with distemper...what were the signs you saw?

As I was talking to Kaorder on IM's, his fiance took Hershey out to go to the bathroom. She did her business and then ran around a little bit with a toy. (Hershey, not the fiance:p) Hopefully that was a good sign.

If anyone needs any info on distemper or roundworms... Kaorder and I are experts on the "symptoms" now!!:D

you arent lying...i feel like I know everything now. She did a little better last night but has been real depressed this morning. Depression in puppies is both a sign of distemper and round worms. We know whe has the worms and are hoping that is what is causing her sickness. We can get rid of the worms but cant get rid of distemper!

not getting any better. Took her to an Animal Hospital in Dallas late tonight and they gave her fluids through an IV to try to hydrate her. They also gave her some shots to help with her nasaua. We are going to take her back to our regular vet tomorrow to find out more. They are still not sure if its the beginning stages of distemper yet. They said its just an upper respiratory infection right now but it can lead to distemper. We will see. She is still not eating on her own. We are having to shove it down her throat.

tomorrow might be the make it or break it day for sweet Hershey. She's fighting. The Vet today said the worms seemed to have cleared up and the only thing now is seeing whether or not there are any neurological symptoms so we are on the lookout for that.

I know how hard this is on yall....BUT, thank God she died surrounded by the people who loved her rather in the cold impersonal shelter you got her from.

You and Amanda made her last days on earth a happy place for her.
