Last week at the LW/Roosevelt game we were talking about the upcoming BBall season. District 11-3A will have the defending boy's state champ(Roosevelt) and runnerup(Ranchview). Can anybody remember that happening before in 3A for any sport?

I cant think of one in 3A. When Colt McCoy was a jr, Jim Ned and Bangs, both district mates, played for State Championships against district rivals from another district. San Augustine was one of the schools I cant remember the other school.

It probably can't happen in other sports because BB reseeds the teams once they get to Austin.

The way it did this year was LW, Castleberry, and Ranchview changed to region 2 with reallignment. Last season Ranchview was R1 Champ and defeated the R3 champ. Roosevelt was the R2 champ and defeated the R4 champ setting up the title game. No reseeding just an improbable longshot.

That is reseeding. R1 usually plays R2 and R3 plays R4 in the semi-finals.

They reseed down in Austin for basketball and your region has nothing to do with who your opponent is going to be. It isn't set in stone like it is in football.

I can name one I know for sure.

In the mid-90's, Bellville defeated Sealy for the Class 3A volleyball title. They are 13 miles apart and - at the time - were in the same district.

About 5 or 6 years ago, district foes La Marque and Texas City both won state football titles in 4A the same year. That's one of the rare occasions in which the two-Division playoff system actually suggested who could be considered the individual champion since La Marque beat Texas City by a TD or less in the regular season.

They may be 13 miles apart but there is no way they met for the State final. They may have met for the Regional final just prior to the State Tourney. Schools are placed into Regions by District. 2 teams from the same region can not make the final 4. Each region has 1 representative.

No, I remember now. It was a weird UIL realignment year when Bellville was placed in Region 3 and Sealy was in Region IV (with Sweeny, Needville, etc). They weren't actually in the same district, but they did meet for the state championship from different regions. That'll likely never happen again. Sealy's region (4) was extremely weak in the sport that year, from what I vaguely recall. This is before the days that Wimberley became competitive.

Bellville beat Sealy handily for the 3A crown.

That was the point I was trying to make.
