Incorrect. I know some very liberal Republicans and some very conservative Dems.

The lone thread that separates the two is the role of the central government. Dems favor a larger role by the central government while Republicans favor a smaller one. Dems, for the time being, just happen to be liberal while Republicans, for the time being, just happen to be conservative. 25 years ago, it was opposite.
