are they the Chicken Poops??? I know what I think about my alma matter's(Midwestern State University) recently rubberized backbone. I think if all these schools would have just gotten together and filed suit against the NCAA then the NCAA would have backed off.

They immediately bailed on Indians as soon as the NCAA made their little declaration. They are now the Mustangs. Went so far as to buy new basketball uni's for both the men's and women's teams over Christmas break and also had the floor on the gym repainted by the time they came back from break. It was really pretty pathetic the way MSU bowed down. The thing that really angered me was the fact that they never sent out a questionaire asking my opinion on the matter or even my opinion on what the new name should be, but they didn't have a problem sending me a request for a donation to the general fund right after the changes were made. They can forget ever getting any money out of me. I'll send my charity to Vernon College, my first stop in academia.

Its really pathetic that mascot names are that big of a concern to the NCAA.

I have never offended a Native American....In fact, I make large donations to them in Ruidoso and Randlette several times a year.

The NCAA is really retarded in their decision making on this. There's a combined Indian tribe out in East Texas called the Alabama-Coushatta for those that might not know that. (Beautiful place to visit by the way out in the Big Thicket with that nice Lake they have called Tombigbee)

I would think that if it really, really bothered them that a school here in Texas had an Indian for a mascot that they would've spoke up a long time ago and protested against McMurry. It's just ridiculous what the NCAA will waste time and money messing with considering all the problems they have.

Its all part of the agenda against competetive sports. Meritocracies are anathema to socialists. The NCAA is now becoming just another politically correct nanny that is more concerned about hurt feelings of imaginary Native Americans than promoting sports in America. Next thing you know they will go up against championships and tournements because they are elitist and reward competetion (it will take about 5-7 years but this will happen). Time for the major conferences to have a meeting IMHO.

I think it was a novel idea. Unoffically they will remain the Indians for all time. Never replaced by "Mustangs" or something of that sort. They will still celebrate Native American Hertiage in the same way they always have. The athletic teams will just not be called the Indians. Just called McMurry.

They announced the McMurry Football Team score at halftime of the HSU game. They were up by a few when the announcement came out and the fans cheered them.

Go McMurry!
