That's pretty good, but it's gonna take more than a trip to the country to right this ship. His days are numbered IMO.

Fran's overall record is 21-20-0

A few prominent former coaches at the same point (41 games) during their career at A&M:

Gene Stallings = 17-23-1
Went on to coach 32 more games (27-45-1)

Emory Bellard = 24-17-0
Went on to coach 34 more games (48-27-0)

Tom Wilson = 21-19-0 (40 game career)
Went on to coach 0 more games (21-19-0)

Jackie Sherrill = 23-18-0
Went on to coach 40 more games (52-28-1)

RC Slocum = 27-13-1
Went on to coach 131 more games (123-47-2)

I wonder why they wanted RC out with that good record. Plus he ran a clean program.

I am obviouly not an aggie fan but I can not figure out how Fran keeps his job even if he was to beat Texas. There seems to be too much animosity and hatred of him already amongst the ranks.

As you can see from above......no one wanted to stick around except for R.C. The others left when they still had time to establish themselves as prominent coaches - not with A&M-College Station. R.C. ran a clean program and was a stand-up guy. He may not have been MR. Personality, but he was a credit to the university.

Why would you still want him??? For another season of mediocrity and frustration??? Yeah...that sounds like fun...

Was Patterson the mastermind behind Fran all those years he worked under him?

No, that would be LaDainian Tomlinson.

Semi-successful against semi-competitive teams.

RC was is a great guy and was a wonderful coach. I think his time was up because he was losing his ability to recruit and connect with the players. He could've stayed if he'd gone "Joe Paterno" and let his young, aggressive assistants run the program so he could sit back and be a figure-head, but he may have ended up like Papa Bowden in the process.

Who knows? I thought Fran was the right guy but here we are...

Those coaches listed above were forced out. RC did a fine job but could not get over the hump. That is why he was dismissed.

AJ - it's that attitude right there of beating Texas & everything is fine that will continue to keep us down. The overall body of work is what matters, not 1 game against Texas. Your comment is disappointing. Fran needs to go & SOON.

Coach Fran can recruit better than Mack Brown.

Well that's what I heard at least. :D

You forgot that Mack Brown was recently on Friday Night Lights. Evidently, the coach being on an NBC TV show will go a long ways in swaying future players to commit to Texas! ;)

Tray Allen to have immediate impact next year on the offensive line for Texas.
