BAGHDAD, Iraq — A fire broke out at an ammunition depot at a U.S. base in southeast Baghdad on Tuesday night, setting off a series of explosions, the U.S. military said. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, said Lt. Col, Christopher C. Garver, a military spokesman.

Blasts from the ammunition in the depot at Forward Operating Base Falcoln went off for at least a half hour and were felt several miles away. Helicopters were seen flying over the area.

Authorities are "trying to determine the cause or any threat to the population," Garver said, adding that there were no immediate reports of casualties.

It's a very unstable situation over there, and I know that you have a lot to come back to. Stay safe, and keep us as updated as possible ( i know details cant be given) We are all prayin for you to come home safe! Thanks for what you are doing over there so we can be here doin what we are doin!
